What will the democrats do when transexuals and regular gays are stoned to death and thrown off buildings in Dearborn Michigan?

How does prison affect viewers? Because that apparently is the proposal being made. Prison doesn’t help marriages. Or kids. Or anything other than keeping offenders from hurting someone else or paying for a grievous offense with years or decades of their life. We sending adulterers to prison too? How about premarital sex? 20 years sound about right for those as well?
Also your point about prison not being good for marriage would apply to literally any crime committed. We shouldn’t lock up shoplifters because prison isn’t good for kids, right? Is that really the point you want to make?
Regarding adultery, many states do criminalize adultery though it’s rarely enforced through criminal proceedings. However, the government does get involved and takes adultery into account in awarding alimony or dividing property in divorce proceedings. So yes, the government does have an anti-adultery policy even if it doesn’t always result in jail time.

More like little Iraq. Most of the people in Dearborn are actually Chaldeans. A small Christian sect who have been persecuted in the Middle East for centuries.

I didn’t see anything about a ban on goat sex so it would probably be loved in Dearborn.

Well... how old are you?
Are you not aware of what's going on in this country with younger generations, reproduction, dating, marriage?
Porn is a major effing issue, as is only fans... among other things. You can completely remove religion from the reasoning behind porn being bad, and see that porn is part of a larger issue that is creating a weaker society.

If I rob someone I’ve taken something from someone else and the state steps in to right that grievance so that I don’t have to shoot my neighbor myself to get my lawn mower back or whatever.
Who has been harmed by watching porn? Perhaps the person doing it but no one else. And only in a possible degrading way which could be argued is equally true of sex outside of marriage or even looking at a swimsuit edition (biblical adultery).
When this was pointed out you replied by explaining that the marriage was impacted so I then explained how that isn’t justification for legal imprisonment in any state and thus implied that doing so here is not just unprecedented in post 1960s America but actually punishes the family unit you wanted to protect.
So yes, I do want to make that point.
And where does it end?
Do we go full biblical law with prison terms? Old Testament? We going to kill adulterers?
Or are we just choosing specific sins without external harm to lock people up for?
Should distilling liquor be illegal?
How about making movies about an affair?
You’re attempting to utilize the weight of the state against moral sins that don’t harm others even beyond preventing physical harm as in the case of drugs, alcohol or cigarettes two of which are fully legal. I think that’s a bad idea both in terms of precedent as well as application regardless of whether it’s applied to the user or the creator even while I would agree it should be discouraged.

No way in hell this passes in Michigan. This probably couldn't be passed anywhere in the US.
Here in Alabama they are close to it.If you trying to access a pornographic site here you have to provide your ID verifying your age before you can access it.
So while not technically banned. The agree and you are over 18 and move on to the sites no longer exist here.
Only one site you can..XNXX
The rest require an ID. That is here in Alabama.

Again, pretty sure that the law does not apply to viewers. If that’s wrong, please show me. Seems like that detail takes care of your concerns.
A just law is one that is directed to the common good, is promulgated by a lawful authority, and is made known publicly. The part you seem to have trouble with is whether it’s directed to the common good and incidentally whether the sentence is proportionate.
I’ve already explained why it’s directed toward the common good. No need to repeat myself.
For proportionality of sentence: sentencing isn’t solely to punish people. It’s also there to create a deterrence. The sentence must be severe enough to restrain the distribution. For something that’s difficult to enforce, the sentence must be higher to get the same deterrence. In this case, enforcement is difficult, and sentencing must be harsher to meet that threshold.
I’d be willing to hear an argument on why the proposed sentence is stricter than necessary to create deterrence.

Im for it in principal, but it's easier knowing it'll never happen. That doesn't mean it can't be restricted, though.

This will be a thing in the coming years because now you can make homemade porn with a Localized AI Image/Video generator. Politicians with skin in the game will push for the ban to grow an AI market they invested in.
The proposed law is against "distribution". If you can make your own using an AI app, then no need to purchase from a distributor.

Its impossible to do, but porn is one of the most devastating things happening to young people right now. They dont have the ability to avoid it.

Crime is out of control, DA's refusing to prosecute serious crimes for slect individuals, yet these morons propose a 20 term for distributing 'porn'.... meanwhile vehicular manslaughter with a DUI enhancement will generally net 5-10 years at worst....
Makes perfect sense.

It destroys those who make it. It destroys those who view it, and occasionally it will destroy those who come in contact with the people that have already been destroyed.
And let me be clear this is not some ignorant, sheltered Puritanical statement. I’m somebody that grew up in a time with pornography readily available on the Internet and have viewed it far more than I’d like to admit. That’s how I know.
But you can say the same thing about almost any hobby with which certain people become excessively obsessed to the point that they cannot function in normal society, like on-line video gaming.
Should on-line video gaming be banned for the greater good of society?
Should distributors of on-line video games be sent to prison for 20 years because some of their customers are unable to control themselves?

This bill passing would do more good than harm. Porn is absolute brain rot in every sense of the word.
It was bad enough 30 years ago when you could buy softcore films from video stores, but now it's on a completely new level of degeneracy. You see guys choking women, hitting them, urinating on them, etc. Seeing that stuff on a daily basis changes the way you view women.

You know who will not support this - muslim politicians.
Although I believe this to be a freedom of speech issue, Muslim politicians support or at least do not oppose the things that destroy western society.
