What if there is compelling evidence that said opponent was colluding with a foreign government to influence the election? I would say the opponent should "watch out" in that case.
Do I need to break it down further? This wasn't about whether or not Trump was a kremlin sympathizer. It's opposition research 101. Both repubs and democrats have mountains of information they collect on each other's members that is used for political campaign purposes. It can range from statements made over the course of their career, legislation they have supported, and who has financially supported their campaigns. No such record of Trump existed because he was not a politician. Sure stuff exists out there with his years in the public eye, but there is no detailed organization to the info.
This is where it gets to the heart of the matter. If Putin had praised Ted Cruz for example, Dems could then look at their opposition research and find every statement or position Ted has ever made regarding Russia. With no such information available to them regarding Trump, the Dems, led by the Obama Whitehouse went looking for information via the NSA and the court system and wiretaps. That my friends is a massive scandal. It wasn't done in the interest of national security, but rather in the interest of good old fashioned party politics. The results of a sitting president spying on a political opponent is what we are witnessing now because it is being leaked and spun in such a way as to subvert the president of the United States.

Look at this thread. Hell, look at this board now. Proggies are turning it into real life idiocracy again.
The political realm has become more partisan today than it has been at least since the late 60's/early 70's, and perhaps since the War Between the States.
The common weltanschauung of each aisle, particularly on the edges of both, are not reconcilable. One necessarily negates the other. Being egoistic and tribalistic creatures, we will deny the possibility that the other side may possibly be right, as it would destroy our understanding of the world - a very uncomfortable prospect for a person.

Honestly, I don't see much rational-critical debate coming from you these days. It goes both ways, you know.

Your boy is in big trouble, Toddy; that's why he moved Jarret in the house.

There is a paper trail thru the FISA courts.

breitbart is actually an increasingly news worthy site if you want the administration perspective. For obvious reasons that I hope you can figure out.

I'm aware of why some find it useful. That changes nothing I said.

Without drawing a direct parallel between today and the 1850s, one element that sticks out to me is the fact that now, as back then, we have two different national conversations going on, and there is very little overlap between the two.
In the 1850s, this "silo" effect had terrible consequences -- the secessionists grew more and more paranoid about an abolitionist movement they essentially overestimated. Today, the political left is becoming increasingly paranoid about the "alt-right," whom they (somewhat ironically) believe to be fascists.
We're in a very bad place right now.

When hemp starts dropping some Weimar shite into the thread, well I have to take a break and crap. I'm not worldly or learned enough to participate.

OMG it's being reported he got this from a Breitbart story.

I'm headed off to a wedding today and started the morning by getting way too stoned and geeked on coffee. Woke up to read this heady shite and my paranoia and thoughtfulness is in overdrive.

Let me put this in a way that you can understand using people and journals you are familiar with. Imagine that President Clooney's chief of staff is the former editor of The Utne Reader. The Utne Reader suddenly has ACCESS to The Clooney Administration and gains relevance. This when the Clooney Administration rolls out compulsory Lesbian Dance Therapy at primary schools, the Utne Reader hears about it first. Pretty simple.

Displaced Buckeye definitely has a George Clooney-level intellect. Good job of conversing on his level.
