That is a fair point. So it is admitted "fairness" has nothing to do with the dems tax goals.

2012 R platform:

Reform the tax code by reducing marginal tax rates by 20 percent across-the-board in a revenue-neutral manner;
Eliminate the taxes on interest, dividends, and capital gains altogether for lower and middle-income taxpayers;
End the Death Tax; and
Repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax.

the country is probably ready to hear a message of everybody should pay their share.

Romeny made a bad mistake not screaming about Obamaphones in his campaign. There are a lot of poor people who think Obamaphones are a joke and everybody without one thinks so.

Put expanded welfare on the forefront and make democrats defend it. Clinton knew if people perceived welfare had gone to far that independents would vote republican--thus the cuts in food stamps during his administration.

All of those except the death tax and amt benefit the lower tax brackets more than the rich.

fairness as a word means nothing because different people interpret it differently. For example, I consider a progressive tax system more "fair" than a flat tax but I can see the other argument.

Every time I see people wanting to change the tax code but keep it revenue-neutral, I look for who it is that stands to benefit - they're probably standing behind the pols.

I can get behind getting rid of deductions and making that revenue neutral because it removes the artificial incentives. Today, you basically have to have a mortgage or have cancer to be able to itemize deductions.

with the expansion of it and the use of it by Obama, the GOP should be able to run with it. However, they won't because the GOP establishment likes it.

Good points. Personally I am for as complicated a system as possible....but that is for selfish reasons. I think a much bigger issue is the irs's failure to enforce current regulation...leading to government talking points and class warfare. Things like "offshore tax havens". Drive me nuts because the laws preventing those are already in place.

Make the election about welfare--corporate, personal and farm.

If has become so massive most taxpayers are offended.

Introduce the "Affordable Gun Act"

because no American should be denied their rights just because they can't afford them.

sorry, but getting rid of "saturday night specials" is too important to the System.

Lots of belief that this was driven by racism.

Those are "inferior" guns.

People should have something better, even if it cost a little more.

Balanced budget amendment.

Dens ran on implementing and passing their holy grail with healthcare, it's time for the republicans to get their holy grail too.

My serious entry is:

The FairTax.

I think I've been consistent with this issue to everyone here.

"Keystone pipeline greenlight."

Obama was all about creating shovel-ready jobs to improve our infrastructure ... except that he didn't really have any. Private industry had an enormous project of this sort that really was shovel-ready and really would have created scores of jobs, and Obama defecates on it and our Canadian allies. Nice.

No no. Obviously there would be a "red line". There could be other measures -- deductions below certain income levels, etc.

But the concept targets scaling back the IRS ~80-90%.

This poster is tired of the IRS being available to Nixon or Obama as a weapon.
