Read Blood & Treasure Confederate Empire in the South by Donald S. Frazier. He talks about the Confederates invading the New Mexico as well as Arizona territories during the war and some documentation of Confederate designs on Mexico withe the objective of having a Pacific port at Guaymas on the Sea of Cortez.
