Are you aware that any modern gas stove uses electronic ignition? Same thing for your furnace. Just because it's gas it doesn't mean it will work in a power outage.

You should look up AA flight 191 as an example of what can happen when those are not followed.

Did you just compare lighting a gas grill or stove to an aircraft disaster?

You should figure out a way to explain to the guy in this thread that lost power at 630 this morning that whatever he did on his gas stove earlier didn’t actually cook his food.

Apparently he cheated death.

I still want to know if I’m going to die because I have three gas water heaters that are all heating water with no electricity.

Yeah, I did. Those mechanics didn't think it was necessary to follow the McDonnell-Douglas maintenance manual for the DC-10 when changing out an engine That resulted in the #1 engine suffering a catastrophic separation and ripping out hydraulic lines with it. The plane could have made it back without the port engine. It was the severed hydraulic lines retracting the slats and producing less lift that made the plane uncontrollable at that airspeed.

You can't tell me that the moronic general public disregarding the manufacturer and messing around with their gas stove is a good idea. They can't even be trusted to keep the toaster out of the bathtub.

Are you fricking kidding me? Lighting a gas stove vs mounting the engine on a DC-10? Stop dude.

switched to induction because it has the same temperature control of gas.

Not really. Some kitchens are forced into using induction because building codes/owners won't allow them to install required ventilation systems. Which is bullshite because any kind of commercial cooking needs ventilation. I have both gas and induction cooktops and gas is superior in terms of all types of cooking. I use induction more like a warmer plate or as extra station I can setup on my rolling island for space and convenience.

I have a large gas heater in my basement. Installed many years ago. The gas is cut off so no pilot light, but can turn the gas on.
It kept me warm (along with a neighbor) and cooked / warmed up food during our worst power outage in many years.

You had to light it with a flame. Still do if you use it.

It's a life saver.

You think comparing a portable induction hotplate to a 220v induction cooktop needing a 50 amp breaker is fair? In that case we can compare a chafing burner to a gas range I suppose.

You'd have to be an absolute retard to imagine any such appliance cares about the ignition source or that it would represent a hazard in an otherwise properly functioning appliance.

This isn’t an argument. You are just completely and unequivocally wrong, and continue being wrong. This is pointing and laughing at you.

Why don’t you cry more about liberal chefs, Jill Biden, and your fire chief grandpa?

And over a gas stove of all things.

No.

Over you saying gas stoves can’t be used when the power is out because the ignition is electric.

Then doubling, tripling, and quadrupling down on that, in increasingly stupid fashion.

If that's the hill you've come to die on, have at it.

As opposed to the hill with gas stoves that can’t be used without electricity that you’re inhabiting?
