You said gas stoves can’t be used when the power is out because the ignition is electric.
Where's the lie in that? It's not going to do anything if the power is out. I've found no manufacturer that approves what you and others have suggested. Just as dumb as a fellow pilot I knew who thought hand-propping was a good idea when the starter failed. In my line of work, trying unapproved procedures can quickly end in death.

Neither. But I'm guessing you have a problem with charcoal too. I can't wait to hear how it's inferior to gas...

Well your line of work isn't lighting gas stoves when the power goes out so STFU

Quadrupling down on one of the truly dumbest things ever posted on this board.

The prevailing thought has been that being a pilot requires a relatively high degree of intelligence. Either that isn’t true, or you’re lying about your “line of work”

I'm glad you're not an A&P mechanic. I would hate to think my plane was being maintained by someone who had no respect for the manufacturer's policies and procedures. You should look up AA flight 191 as an example of what can happen when those are not followed. You act as if manufacturers are just out to put a cramp in your style with their instructions.

Man starves to death cause he couldn't light a has stove while the power was out sounds like a Darwin award winner.

Considering the very generous amount of time you can go without eating and the amount of food that doesn't require heating, yes, that really would be worthy of a Darwin award. You all are stretching this out more than grandma's nightgown.

Remember the old natural gas heaters with the ceramic grates
Unfortunately. 1959. I nearly blew up a house by turning the gas knob full tilt. Back in the old days gas appliances didn't friction-click and light up spontaneously as they do today.

Why? You’re not a pilot.

You don’t have a plane.

You should figure out a way to explain to the guy in this thread that lost power at 630 this morning that whatever he did on his gas stove earlier didn’t actually cook his food.

some of you have admitted to using your gas stove as a space heater. Should the flame go out, you'll find out just how unforgiving carbon monoxide is
That’s funny, I didn’t know natural gas or propane are made up of carbon monoxide…
Oh wait, they aren’t.

Who the hell doesn’t use a lighter to light their gas stove when the power goes out?
ETA:
WAIT!! If the electricity is out and my gas water heaters are still working, DOES THAT MEAN MY ENTIRE FAMILY IS GOING TO DIE??????

See, more lies and putting words in my mouth. I made no such claim that natural gas and propane are made up of carbon monoxide. But both can certainly produce it.

This is exactly what you said:
quote:

Which clearly states that if the flame goes out on a natural gas or propane stove, you will then have carbon monoxide filling your house.

Whatever dude. I'm done with you at this point. I'm sitting here looking at my photo with N75649 after my PPL ride in 2006. You can't hold an argument without getting personal and getting emotional. And over a gas stove of all things. If that's the hill you've come to die on, have at it.
