a social conservative as well.

Not really... he played a social conservative but when it was time for the conservative rubber to hit the road he veto'd the abortion bill after he had promised he would sign.

Also he was a shiny democrat star in the political mold of Bill Clinton before switching parties. James Carville as a younger Democrat strategist was most responsible for getting Roemer his plurality in the 1987 Governors election over Edwin Edwards. Edwards finished second but ceded the election before the runoff.

The Young Turks.

How long did it take you to type that out?

You think the OP could have managed that?

Just going by what the common nomenclature seems to be for it. Their website, their logo on the YouTube page, everything they do seems just go by the abbreviation now. You don’t see people typing out Cable News Network, Microsoft National Broadcasting Company, Democratic National Committee, Republican National Committee, or Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. And odds are if someone doesn’t know TYT is in reference to The Young Turks then spelling out “The Young Turks” wouldn’t help them to identify or acknowledge who TYT is anyway.

In short: frick off and have a most excellent Saturday

I worked for Buddy Roemer for one year as a typesetter for his publications (I type really fast). He was very short. His wife was extremely beautiful. I would describe his ideology as a politician first, a moderate conservative second.

He got into serious trouble when he implemented the Latip-Latep program for teacher evaluation. It was a horrible concept that was doomed to fail and he didn't see it because he never examined the details.
Short explanation: Latip-Latep ran on the premise that teaching AP Physics and teaching Special Ed involved the same methods.

Maybe it was a good business decision and the ROI is positive.

That TYT clip is so damn telling.

You would think that almost 4 years later from that night, the Dems/Progs would have moved on from the rhetoric that Shitlary lost simply because she has a vagina.

They haven't. They won't. They can't.

They're still doubling down on the same identity politics bullshite that cost them in 2016...except now instead of a rich old white woman, the party of diversity's two front runners: two old rich white men.

When Trump beats either one of them, I guess we'll be sexist against men now.

The medical issues are more severe in recent years but they aren’t new. He’s a type 1 diabetic. The John Maginnis book describes him being pulled over by a police officer for driving erratically. He was going into insulin shock, not drinking.

When I was a kid and he was in Congress I talked to him after a parade. He commended my interest in politics and told me it was important.

I handed out stickers and signs for him in ‘87 and was old enough to do more for him in ‘91 and got to interact with him often. He was a great governor who stepped on some toes that needed stepping on in Louisiana. God bless him.

My family is good friends with the former state trooper who was responsible for governor Roemer's safety.

Judging from his stories, Buddy was a major league character.

Buddy was a good governor, but Edwin Edwards secretely bankrolled David Duke's campaign in 1991 so he and the Grand Wizard would face each other in the runoff. It worked, and EWE won.

It could be an act and about money, but part of the reason Cenk is in the insane Bernie wing now is he thinks moderate stances won't win elections. Don't think I agree with him there, but if he truly thinks that, have fun.
