The story goes the enemy drone was able to avoid detection because it was following a US drone being tracked returning to base. Is there any proof of this? Or is it possible there was no enemy drone, only the US drone. What if there was a mishap with the US drone (or worse). This sure did take some wind out of the border showdown sails and the timing is convenient...j/s.

That is absolutely not possible. Each one would have a radar signature.

I’m sure the best drone pilots and US military know how to avoid radar if they need to.

One day these small killer drones will be autonomous and we will see accidents like this.

Yeah that doesn’t make much sense because they’d know or wouldn’t. It’s equally likely they missed it or it avoided radar completely. We don’t have much info to assume what type of drone and where the ppl were on base.

What I heard on a podcast was that perhaps the radar was turned off - that will do nothing but fuel conspiracy theories, if true.

I thought the reports stated they were tracking it, but misidentified it as friendly and accidentally let it through the countermeasures. No?

It's not that they missed it. They accidentally let it through.

The US Military and Intel branches operate thousands of UAV drones. Almost all of them have a Helios beacon. These are used to identify the particular UAV. They operate much like the beacons used in commercial aircraft but aren’t available to the public.

WASHINGTON (AP) — An enemy drone that killed three American troops and wounded dozens of others in Jordan may have been confused with an American drone returning to the U.S. installation, two U.S. officials said Monday.

As the enemy drone was flying in at a low altitude, a U.S. drone was returning to the small desert installation known as Tower 22 and may have been let pass by mistake, according to a preliminary report cited by the officials, who were not authorized to comment and insisted on anonymity

I mean, I'm by no means a military weapons technology expert but this seems to be the obvious answer. No fricking way that would have happened.

Never think. Never question. Just accept everything they tell you as truth. It's easier that way. Otherwise, you might be labeled a "conspiracy theorist."
