He should run for president of Canada the funniest part of that story is how he and Harris basically don’t talk anymore and how his daughter misses Harris. Thus, safe to say Harris isnt friendly and waltz daughter is batshit crazy

My hot take is Tim Walz was the better candidate on that ticket 2024 but was undermined by the centrist liberal desire to run on decorum and respectability politics. They basically sidelined him after he had a lot of success with hitting the GOP hard where they're the most unlikeable: weird fixations on gender issues that largely do not matter to anyone but their base, completely unmoored understandings of economics and the role of government w/r/t rural town sustainability, etc. The liberal braintrust really wanted to run on not being "Blue MAGA" in their eyes because they just imagine MAGA is Trump's name calling and "toxic" comments. So they completely gagged him when his utility was his ability to do a good stump at a rally or media segment that would motivate their base.

Libs just do not understand that modern federal elections are a turnout game with your base not a competition for the mythical independent. GOP won the presidency in 2024 not because they flipped that many actual people, they won it because they got the exact same turnout as 2020. They got their people to show up. The bad economy and Gaza demotivated the Dem turnout and Kamala didn't have the juice to motivate them through those hang ups.

However, is Walz actually good enough to win or just had a better intuition on how you fight back at Trump's rhetoric than a political lightweight Kamala Harris? My gut is the latter. However, he understood that the path to victory was not playing towards the middle but motivating their base.

You have it backwards. They chose Walz to appeal to the “middle” and it backfired when he was exposed as a limp wristed weirdo. The Coach, camo hat, AOC runs a “mean pick six” guy was an embarrassment. I actually thought he did fairly okay at the debate but he was just outclassed.

Cory Booker will be the democrats obstacle in 2028. He’s an ugly Obama that is not as smooth with his words. He is already thinking it’s his to lose. Their primaries in 28 will be nasty!

I can't wait to make fun of his retard son now that the left has normalized that through their gleeful / hateful parodies of Saint Elon.

If he's serious about it, he'll get rid of that horrible count of a wife.

Quadrupling down on the effeminate male is an interesting strategy.

2028 will be all black women, gay men, and Newsome.

It will be fun to point out that Dems will definitely nominate the straight white male.

I imagine it is a matter of perspective. The way I parse it:

AOC and those like her are really the left flank of the party. They essentially have no capacity to guide policy within the party but they're the most active on social media. Furthermore, they're the best contrast to the right so the right wing media fixates on them. They're so firmly outside the grasps of power in their party that AOC has completely debased herself to her left flank supporters on many issues to make nice with the party leadership. They rewarded her by putting a dying back bencher nobody on a committee she wanted in return for not agitating a contested primary and supporting the party line. The right's fixation on these characters is good for getting the die hards motivated but the reality is these people are sooner to see the heat death of the universe than the Democrats ever actually champion their policy goals when push comes to shove.

Tim Walz actually represents the interests of the base for the modern Democratic Party that can be broadly defined as a coalition of rural and urban black people and highly educated urban and suburban white people. He supports fairly benign social welfare initiatives like 100% free lunches in public school and is a social liberal. Everyone in the Democratic Party will feign progressive leanings but he really sorta voted as a pretty centrist liberal. I know for people on here, everything left of Pinochet is a communist but that is not reality for the rest of the planet.

The middle that Kamala Harris's campaign decided to court were Never Trump Republicans who essentially only exist in the major national newspaper's editorials section. It was not a real demographic to court and they partly lost the election by actively parading Cheney's around and demotivating their base.
