I never had the pleasure of meeting Ben in person, but several of us started interacting with Ben when we heard that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (and a few people here actually did meet him face-to-face). He was active on the Political Talk Board, but also loved to talk LSU sports on The Rant. I don't visit that board very often, but Ben used to tell me how much he loved LSU football, and how he had been an adamant defender of the hiring of LSU Head Coach Ed Orgeron since the beginning (which was something he and I had in common).

Man, how Ben would've loved the 2019 LSU football season. I don't know how it works (does anybody?), but maybe Ben's spirit was aware of everything LSU football accomplished last season. I sure hope so, anyway.

I've missed not reading Ben's take on the craziness of 2020 America. The virus, the anarchy, the impeachment sham, everything. I think it's safe to say that Ben Coleman would've had plenty to say about these matters and so much more.

I had a photo of Ben, but I got another phone somewhere along the way and it didn't transfer to the new one. If anybody has one, feel free to post it here.

RIP, Ben. You battled your illness with toughness and courage, and you made an indelible and lasting impression on so many of us. I hope I finally get the chance to meet you "in person" one day.

EDIT - Photo of Ben and his wife Chrissie, courtesy of poster emboslice.

It’s really a shame he never got to see the 2019 season. He fought like hell for Coach O and he was right.

Thank you for bringing this up KCT. Ben was a patriot to the very end. More worried about his country and his wife than he was about that awful disease killing him.

If only all of us could have that courage.

Ben Coleman was a fricking M-A-N.

Thanks, emboslice. I knew that a few people here would have a photo, but I didn't know if any of them would see this thread before it dropped off the front page.

I'll add that photo to the OP.

I was one of them giving him hell

I agreed almost wholly with Ben's political views but he was 100% certain that Ed Orgeron would lead LSU to a national title- and, well, I wasn't

I don't know if Crissy lurks the forums or not. Doubt it... but I have prayed for her every time Ben has crossed my mind in the time since he passed.

We really lost a good one. I miss Ben. I would have eaten the biggest helping of crow pie ever, after this last football season.

Ben and I had some HEATED battles about everything from the start of Ed Orgeron’s tenure to civil asset forfeiture. I always respected his willingness to get into the dirt and battle it out with me. Not a lot posters are like that. Most will RA when things really get going

Rest In Peace, Ben.
