Yet, Ukraine, the Baltic States and Eastern Europe never want to kiss a Russian arse again.

You are so right... First Napoleon, then Hitler, and now NATO...

And we got Taco Bell's on every corner... Prosperous...

This is what I was thinking. Trump has to tread lightly until he is inaugurated.

Thoughts?
Dems will fire up the Logan Act, fan the flames, and attempt to turn it into Russiagate 2.0. But this time, unless the visit was officially sanctioned, Trump would actually have committed the offense.

That’s not a Confederate flag.

Stopped reading here. The Soviet navy was a joke compared to the US and always played second fiddle to their ground forces.

Man, as a 20 year old SAR Corpsman, I flew whenever we had flight ops going on. Our CH46 would buzz the Russian ships real low. Low enough to get a good look.

They had nuclear warheads on those ships I’m pretty sure. One order to fire and I’d have no ship to land back onto.

So, when you say they were a joke, not sure how up close you’ve been to their navy. Now, their Navy today is no where near the force they were 50 years ago, however, it only takes a few well placed nukes to cause a lot of damage.

PS: with all respect sir, this attitude of yours contributes to the air of invincibility some have of our military. My post was about Ukraine and where are we heading. Our military can win any conventional war I’m sure. There is no winning nuclear Armageddon.

Pavel Guberev googled rebel flag, and found the Army of Tennessee flag that’s become ubiquitous. That’s was the inspiration behind their flag.

The Soviet Navy was never powerful and the Russian navy is less powerful. They have already lost some of their most advanced ships to Ukraine. Putin will not destroy Ukraine with nukes. The dude isn't that dumb. So far this war has been an embarrassment for the Russians. So much so that they have changed the terms of victory multiple times. There is no peace plan bottom line is Russia either takes Ukraine or Ukraine beats them back. Ukraine will never agree to give up the lands Russia took and Russia will never agree to give them back.

I mostly agree with your post, but you missed on this, unless you think that more powerful than the Italian Navy makes them powerful.

Also, your analogy about Ukraine being a “breakaway province” is flat out false. Ukraine is a sovereign nation, recognized as such by every single nation in the world, including Russia.

Basically the Biden Administration screwed the pooch on the whole war.

Instead of negotiating with Putin from the start and giving him some land, no NATO membership, etc., he has sent Ukraine $200Billion of our money, a million people dead between both sides, and Russia will still end up with more land then they would have had to originally agreed to.

It is the definition of an epic failure.

I think youve seen a lot more life than most on this board and have a wise perspective. Id say the main thing is that we cannot be world police. Russia sees justification for invading Ukraine. Its a regional conflict amongst people of the same ethnic background and has nothing to do with the USA. If Ukraine wants to fight back, more power to them.

You make good points all around and I disagree with none of them

Fighting war is like fighting cancer, the money is made fighting the war not ending it and money is made fighting. Anger not curing it.

The only competent part of the Russian navy was its submarine fleet.....and ours was better. In term of surface ships.....the French could blow them out of the water
