Thoughts On Communism
Can a nation be free if it oppresses other nations? It cannot. -Vladimir Lenin

Many verbally express that Communism looks good on paper, but never works out when put into action. I was wondering if others could give better insights into why communism would not work well in the authentic world.I verbally express that it would not work in the authentic world because it takes away motivation to work. Why work when the regime will provide for you? when the society becomes slothful who will do the work? that is my input and thank you for all of yours.

re: Thoughts On Communism
It’s the stuff of books, not message boards. So I will just say that any philosophy that is in opposition to human nature ( self interest for starters) can not by definition succeed. That is, it is doomed to fail from the start. When people say “ it looks good on paper “ what they are really saying is “ wouldn’t it be pleasant and good if that were the nature of man”.

Feminists, and women in general, would hate it if Marx's real (pure) communism ever took ahold somewhere.

re: Thoughts On Communism
Because the amount of power you would have to surrender to a centralized authority in order to ensure equality of outcome would invariably result in an authoritarian system.

To each according to their needs attracts the young and innocent, the ignorant, and the lazy. This is the reason it is tried over and over again.

From each according to his ability never happens. That’s why communism fails every time it’s tried.

Socialist of the world unit, and just go away!

Well, apparently Stalin and other communist goons completely disagreed with this statement.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

This is a bunch of garbage. I'm not saying our country should oppress others, but there are plenty of instances of might makes right in history, and the oppressors and their free citizenry did very well for a very long time.

Edit: This is more accurate: "If you want freedom for your nation, and morality doesn't matter to you, continually oppress other nations and steal their resources."

absolute nonsense

Communism neither works good when put it to action nor does it look good on paper

It is an awful ideology all the way around

Minorities too. The freak show open communists running around college campuses would be stuck in factories and coal mines. Just like the Soviets, the politburo would be full of white males with vacation homes on the ocean while the masses toil in poverty

It works if done correctly, but no country has been able to do it correctly yet.

Only "works" when implemented and sustained by force. Human nature is to look out for #1, that's why capitalism has made mankind more prosperous than at anytime in history.

When people fail to go to work... somebody has to step up. It begins pissing people off... and it will collapse.

re: Thoughts On Communism
quote:

equality of outcome
Is the worst ideal to ever hit the political realm. It is in distinct contrast to what it means to be human

It supresses human individualism, responsibilty, and cultivation

Humans were not meant to be drones of the state or society. We were endowed with complexities and reason over all animals for a purpose beyond being an intelligent ant farm

It is the key reason why ideoligies like communism and socialism fail. At their core they rebel against human nature. Capitalism has been the most successful political experiment thus far because it recognizes the significance of the individual

equality of opportunity yes, outcome no

re: Thoughts On Communism
Putin claims that Communism is very similar to Christianity on this short video clip about freedom, justice, brotherhood and equality, so maybe Jesus is partly responsible.

But, I maintain that both the behavior of USA and Russia leaders, if you want to make a bibical reference, are closer to the Old Testament than the New Testament.
