Though I loved Trump, I’d prefer DeSantis in 2024 and here’s why

1) Age. Though Trump is in good health and has seemingly inexhaustible energy, he will be 78 in 2024. For me, that’s too old to start a term.

2) Too much baggage. Though most of the things Trump was accused of have turned out to be false, with many of the citizens, he has too many perceived negative incidents attributed to him. DeSantis would start with a mostly clean slate.

3) DeSantis wouldn’t have the same degree of negative aura as Trump, and some of the Dem voters who want nothing Trump, but who hate the present direction of the Dem party, would vote for DeSantis

4) DeSantis wouldn’t generate the same voter turnout with Dems as Trump, where scores of usually apathetic voters turned out to simply cast a no vote against Trump. A lower voter turnout would help the Rep. candidate

5) I think DeSantis has a better chance of carrying Florida than Trump in 2024. Trump had a close race winning Florida in 2020, and It could be even closer in 2024. DeSantis is very popular in the state, and his handling of covid and the economy would almost assure the state going to the Republicans.

6) Lastly, I think DeSantis is more polished. And though he is a staunch conservative and not ashamed of it, his delivery is not quite as abrasive as Trumps and more eloquent.

I’m sure I could think of more, but that’s a good start. Let the cuck accusations commence.

I'm fine with either. I'd like to see DeSantis has Vice President for four years with TRUMP then as President for eight years after.

I know this was the narrative for what happened in 2020. I'm not convinced that it's accurate or that we are in any way still working on the same electoral paradigm you envision.

#metoo

Though I'll readily admit that while I agree that Desantis does not give the press the same bait as Trump, it won't matter at all and he'll be attacked in as merciless a way as Trump was. it's starting already as one of the presumed front runners. This is the new gameplan for the press...open warfare against the right.

Remember, W. Bush was literally Hitler also...and now they love the guy. Hell, they bashed Mittens, too.

You poor child. You still don't know how the press operates.

1) With the current occupant 78 is certainly too old.

2) DeSantis will still get tarred by the media. See 60 Minutes. They are bought and paid for. Still he probably would invite fewer attacks than MAGA did.

3) True. No OMB or TDS.

4) Ha ha. Will the dead, the illegal harvesting still turn out. Probably. Will Dominion get controlled?

5) Either would carry Florida.

6) DeSantis is smoother, but a lot of people were attracted to Trump's brashness. His anti-PC message and delivery.

Many Republican baby boomers voted for Biden and that’s just fact. His abrasive tone, name calling, etc while popular with other generations didn’t take with conservative boomers.

MSM has plenty of time to fabricate nonsense about him and of course the tried and true sexual assault victims will "break their silence" out of nowhere right when we get to crunch time

I think either will be fine but picking someone to run is a waste of time if we don’t fix the election process. In addition, can you imagine the lame duck antics of a President whose party controls the WH, Congress, Senate and the SC. It’ll be a shitfest dujour.

I believe Trump will give him his blessing and he will run if he can win re-election next year. Trump needs to be the figurehead of the conservative movement.
