Why? Why should Cruz be in Texas? Just what is he going to do to mitigate the situation? Because if it's about 'optics', that is totally meaningless.

Doesn't bother me whether he went or not or whatever. If Abbott went, that's an issue. If Queen Nancy went Dems would say she deserves a vacation. But again, a senator, not the governor. It's nitpicking to make Cruz look like shite. Wonder what's being planned that they're trying to use this to take people's eyes off of.

If there is one thing I want in the middle of a crisis, it's some slicked up politician coming by to shake my hand, touch my shoulder, and take a picture.
I remember how much better everything was in 2016 after Obama visited the flood victims in Louisiana. All the piles of peoples' belongings sitting on the curb just magically disappeared...in about a year or so.

Its a distraction. Also...how is it not a big deal to them that biden has said 0 in acknowledging it on air.Bigger things are going on behind, such as FBI investigation, founders of racsist math, the burial bill on trump, tomorrow's day in court with fraud stuff with 2/3rds of their stuff passed...etc.

Dude - there's no way that you can tell me that a guy from Texas who takes a vacation to Cancun this week is fighting anything.
Bad optics - yeah. Bad decision - yeah. Intelligent? Responsible? no. Cruz is good at debate club theatrics, not actual government.

But emergency response to a weather event is something handled by local and state officials with assistance from FEMA. I’ve live through many hurricanes and I don’t really remember our US senators or congressional reps being involved with coordinating immediate disaster responses. That was always coordinated by the governor’s office, local parishes/cities, and FEMA providing backup. Cruz isn’t in charge of any emergency response agencies so the most he would’ve been able to do is give some media interviews about whats going on. Its bad optics, but nothing more
