This would certainly be difficult to get passed by Congress, and would certainly make its way to SCOTUS.

It is without a doubt unconstitutional.

They aren’t going to actually do it. They are just going to say it to get votes from crusty, flaky, worthless humans

I'm not in favor of the tax on unrealized capital gains, but to be clear: you would only pay it if you are very wealthy. It only applies to households with net wealth in excess of $100,000,000.
I guess you’re one of those that would watch Jews getting loaded onto box cars and say “why do you care, you’re not Jewish”.

And they told us those 87000 IRS agents that they hired wouldn't go after certain income brackets also.

Do you believe anything the government says?

So why should government unfairly tax and steal wealth from anyone regardless of what they have built or earned?

You're fighting the good fight, but most in this thread are allergic to facts and spinning out conspiracy theories.

Try harder on the reading comprehension. I said in the sentence immediately before the one you quoted that I'm not in favor of the tax.

Don’t believe taxing unrealized gains for those with greater than 100,000,000 in net worth would have an economic impact on others who dont have such a net worth?

I have yet to see anyone make an argument of merit on why this is a good idea beyond “get the rich”. Which isn’t an argument of merit. It’s an appeal to jealousy.

Fedgov has zero credibility when it comes to offering monetary policy. They essentially run a business with forced participation and they are still 36TT in debt.

I’d I want to know how to overthrow a government in clandestine fashion I’ll give them a shout. Thats about all they are good at.

Are you sure about that? This 2024 SCOTUS term case held the plaintiffs had to repatriate and pay taxes on unrealized foreign gains.

That would basically just include all of their big money donors…Democrats love to use the “tax the rich” “pay their fair share” lines to explain how they’re going to pay for all their shitty programs and endless handouts… they know that their voting base is generally too stupid to know better.. meanwhile the ones who actually end up footing the bill are the middle class.

See Obamacare, housing crash, student loan forgiveness, the list is endless.

Oh and the 80K new irs agents they hired to go after the “wealthy and corporations…” I bet you can’t guess what class of folks those new agents spend the majority of their time hunting…

Pretty sure the slop of the line that best fits these data points is negative.

Yeah just like "no tax if you make less than 400k" but lets raise the corporate tax rate from 21 to 28% so they can pass it off to the consumers and charge an arse load more for each product.
