This is one of the more absurd party controversies I've seen. What we're seeing here is:

Progs
-falling over themselves to condemn a guy based on 40 year old testimony.

-convincing themselves that a 30 year old wanting to frick 18 year olds is somehow wrong and weird (I'm not talking abt the 14 yr old)

-ignoring the massive hypocrisy of the sexual allegations against some of their own hero's (Bill Clinton for instance)

-wanting to remove a guy from the ballot before any actual investigation, criminal charges, hearing, etc. (What a dangerous precedent)

-blatantly ignoring the timing of these allegations, convincing themselves there's no possible way it could be a hit job (how fricking naive do you have to be to ignore that?)

Repubs
-falling over themselves to defend a guy at all costs simply b/c he has an (R) by his name, knowing good and well many would eviscerate any Dem with the same allegations

-Immediately discrediting any piece evidence just because

-presenting counter evidence with sources as trustworthy as The Onion. (When they'll dismiss anything and everything from most other news networks)

-a few actually defending diddling a 14 yr old (if true)(yes there are some doing this in threads)

What else am I missing??

If you step back and actually take a partisan stance, most would conclude:

A) let's wait till a thorough investigation is done before we completely ruin someone's reputation/life. It's not like there aren't examples of false allegations. We have a Justice system in this country for a reason.

B) if he did indeed diddle a 14 year old, he shouldn't be anywhere near political office, and should be reprimanded accordingly.

Anything else is simply party politics.

Most elected Republicans have said that Moore should step aside if the allegations are true.

Except crazy arse Zeigler.

I'm certain this whole thing is orchestrated by the establishment R's. They are seeing their voting base turn against them and are desperate to hold on to power. shite, they couldn't wait to demand Moore drop out and/or that the election be postponed

I'm talking more this board. They have nothing invested in this person or election except party affiliation.

The R's in office are trying to distance themselves in case he is indeed guilty, which is understandable. Especially the donors, you don't want to be tied to that shite. Political suicide.

No many are demanding he step aside regardless of innocence or guilt.

Is that not distancing themselves?

Really it's like virtue signaling.

"Let me be on record denouncing him in case he's guilty"

Probably the only good, smart thing many of them have ever done while in office.

Some of them testified on behalf of Bob Menendez.

Demanding a guy step aside is a tad more than distancing.

right news media isn’t giving him a pass though. Hannity interviewed him last night and his 2 guests ripped Moore’s responses afterwards.

I will agree that many Repub “citizens” on twitter etc are giving him a pass.

My take- the accusers are shady as all ever—? timing, paid, affiliated with his opponent

BUT his answers to hannity last night left me scratching my head. He was convincing when he said he didn’t know or mess around with the 14 year old. But his answers on dating 17 18 and 19 year olds were all over the place. I’m thinking he did seek out teens in his 30s, but teens 17 and up. He knew that by admitting that, he would look bad. But his trying to lie about it was dumb dumb dumb because dating 17,18, and 19 year old girls while 32 isn’t illegal. Now he just looks like a liar even though it seems he was telling the truth about the 14 year old - the only accusation that matters.

I wonder if potus didn’t back him because he knew they were going to pounce on him eventually for dating teens in his 30s ??

You forgot the sitting dem senator who maybe likes teen hookers and how Miss Linsey bravely stepped across the aisle to prop him up.

NOT ONE SOUL in the senate said "He must step aside!" when THOSE accusations came up. NOT ONE

You forgot about a decade of democrats and their lapdog media bemoaning "the politics of personal destruction" during and after the rapist in chief's presidency.

Since then, those same folks whip it out like Weinstein's dick when none of the rest of their bullshite works. When you can't win in the arena of ideas, use the republican party's own morality and principles against them, whether it's true or not.

I can provide a list of people its been done to, but nobody on that side cares.

And yet they had a semen stained dress as proof, and those same GOPe pricks wouldn't remove Clinton from office

So their calls for Moore to step aside are bullshite

Somewhere finger pointing at past actions have to stop. ‘Just because big brother Bobby did it’ does not make it right. If that is the standard, then we will continue with politicians doing crappy shite and pointing at past shite saying ‘they did it.’

Yep. I wonder if there is a German politician who molested a kid or something horrible, and his supporters say, “Well, that fricking Hitler did a lot worse.”
