In my short time here I have noticed there are just as many commies and queers as you find on the ZZL PT and Reddit. The big difference is this place doesn't ban people who oppose sexually mutilating children and state sponsored censorship / persecution / assassinations of political opponents.
There is definitely more of one camp than the other but it is closer to 35/65 than 5/95 like the crybabies think.

It is a crowd-sourced echo chamber rather than mod-enforced echo chamber.
Post anything remotely perceived as anti Trump and you’ll be derided across multiple threads in an attempt to make you stop posting.
But you can still post, just no one here wants you to.
It doesn’t bother me, personally, I just think it’s childish.

Yup. That’s how society works. Welcome.

You’re way too sensitive. Do you cry when this happens?

It's typically a smaller but very vocal minority that doesn't want you to.

Actually, it is a symptom of societal breakdown.

I’m intrigued to know where you are that people commonly call each other “fricking dipshit retarded pedo groomers” in public

It 100% is an echo chamber.
I’m more than fine labeling it as such. As long as it’s put in proper context.

Yep, and it's a very dangerous place to be. The most dangerous thing about an echo chamber is that you will very rarely recognize that you're in one.

If someone is supporting sexualizing and fetishizing young kids, then they should be called “fricking dipshit retarded pedo groomers” in public. The fact that this doesn’t happen often enough is a sign of the breakdown of our society.
Hostility and mocking as a means enforcing standard morality should be practiced more often.

No, it’s actually not.
Progressives love to make the response to degeneracy the story. The degeneracy is still the real story.

That’s like the liberals saying Twitter didn’t become a leftist echo chamber, except your claim is even worse than that.
It wasn’t an echo chamber to them because they agreed with it.

I see it as a place to communicate with like minded people. There is enough diversity of opinion that it is not really an echo chamber.

It is not an echo chamber. I agree.
Go to surlyhorns if you want an echo chamber.
Ideas here that aren’t conservative may get poopooed on more often than not. But you’re not going to get “crowdsourced” by the dissenting voices.
Thank you for that reminder.

To elaborate on this point -- civil society used to act as a kind of control on extreme views. I'm talking about your family, friends, informal networks. Your interest groups, community groups, church. Political discussion happened here -- with people you actually knew and needed on like a day-to-day basis.
Civil society thus had two functions: (1) the mediation and validation of information and (2) the civil enforcement of the boundaries of acceptability.
Most people now talk politics online, and the functionality of civil society has broken down. Left with no checks on extremism, people are now "free" to develop increasingly radical views in online groups. This radicalization, of course, makes it difficult for those individuals to return to civil society and act, well, civilly. That's why so many MAGA guys now feel alienated from their own families and former friends. That's why they no longer donate or volunteer in their communities.
Thus, online political discussion is both a cause and a symptom of societal breakdown.

I think the question begged here is whether or not someone is doing as you describe by voting democrat.
If you think 50% of the country is supporting that, I can see why one would be constantly at odds
Posted on 8/9/24 at 12:11 pm to ReauxlTide222
Problem is, outside of SFP, who isn’t a progressive IRL, no one can debate from a leftist point of view without revealing themselves to be a nut job. That’s one of the main reasons I left the Democrat party.

I don’t think 50% of the country supports that.
50% of the country will vote for a candidate that supports it.
Why do you think that is?
