I likely won’t be able to afford as big of a family as the one I grew up in, which is a personal vexation

Sure, I dont feel bad about a boomer calling me a bigot nor would I feel bad about stereotyping. I went a little far responding in anger earlier, but other than that I apologize for nothing I say on here. At least my anger is on behalf of my country and community. The anger you boomers get is 100% narcissism and selfishness.

I will never forgive you for TARP or the years of QE, or covid. You deserve all the hate you receive

Perhaps a vexation. But it's much more a simple personal choice.

Again you probably missed my earlier responses, i.e.,
quote:

Let's do this with actual numbers, just to give you a better sense that all is not as you seem to assume:

In 1991, median home prices were ~$78K (less than the $120K you posted).
Rates for 30yr loans were ~10%. Median Income was ~$30K/yr (~$2500/m). So monthly financing ran ~$615/m or about 25% of the $2500/m

In 2021, median home prices were ~$347K (massively up, 17% Y2Y over 2020). Rates for 30yr loans were ~3.1%. Median Income was ~$72K/yr (~$6K/m) So monthly financing ran ~$1350/m or about 22% of the $6000/m

Now to be clear, that 2021 home was much, much nicer than it's 1991 comparator. Median home size in 1991 was 1400sqft vs 2530sqft in 2021. Appointments were likewise far better in the median 2021 home.

So in 2021 you could buy a far nicer home than folks in 1991 at a slightly lower monthly cost relative to salary. Now that doesn't mean folks in 1991 had it terrible. But it will hopefully be a perspective setter for you.

X’er here as well. I agree 100%. Our first house was tiny and needed a lot of work. Not the greatest neighborhood either, but it was all we could afford. We were happy to have it. Hell, I still drive a 14 year old vehicle because I’m too cheap to pull money out of savings/investments to buy something new. It’s all about your mindset.

In yalls minds, you are the only ones who did this, while the younger gens just grew up in mansions and played xbox till they were 30.

I didn’t respond to that because you cherry picked 2021, when rates were historically low and before inflation took off, instead of going with the present cost

No, you have it backwards. Your constant complaint is that older generations had it easy and were basically wiping their asses with $100 bills since birth. You’re the one who dismisses the struggles and sacrifices most people have gone through to get where they are now.

NO!
I picked 2021 because it was exactly 30yrs after 1991.
Period!

As I pointed out for you (a) Your median house price for 1991 was inflated 50%, so I corrected that for you SUPPORTING your assertions, and (b) home prices SURGED 17% y2y in 2021, yet I went with 2021 instead of 2020 where my position would have been bolstered. If I wanted to cherrypick (as you did in choosing 2025, given the high interest and price combo) I would have used 1990-2020.

I got a good deal on my first house, I don’t deny that

2025 is the only relevant time to use for comparing, if your a 25-30 year old man looking for your first home purchase, you are not paying 2021 rates

there's your problem,

lou holtz used to speak at our football banquet every year when i was at catholic high, he started off his speech with "men, when ever anybody ask you how your day's going don't answer, half of them don't care and the other half hope you are having a bad day"

No one "called" you a bigot. Certainly no "Boomer" did. In fact, you established yourself as a bigot based on your own stereotypical generation-biased screed.

Bigotry and stereotyping of a large group with a gargantuan spectrum of beliefs and ethics has nothing whatsoever to do with your country and community. Quite the opposite, it is everything your country and community were founded to prevent.

To be clear, being a bigoted bitch has nothing to do with country and community. It simply has to do with being a bigoted bitch.

Yeah, because being born in America in 1968 rather than 1962 is exactly like the difference between being born in first world Norway and third world shithole Haiti.

Good f'n point.

NEGATIVE!!!

The YOUNGEST of millennials were 25yrs old in 2021. That is prime first-time house-buying age in any previous generation. 2016-2021 ""is the only relevant time to use for comparing.""

I chose the worst of those years ... 2021

Your problem isn't boomers. It's that you're retarded and a perpetual victim.

Why are you blaming a minority share of the electorate for TARP, QE and Covid response? Younger generations more so than boomers voted for that shite. Boomers should be blaming you for it all.

Boomers "The Hippies" the ones who shipped all the jobs to the other countries. They want you to know that it's your fault that you can't pay off a college degree by working summers. That it's your fault that you can't raise a family and own a house on one salary. They didn't kick the bucket down the road so they could live the easy life, high off the hog. According to the Boomers it's those dang Gen X'ers and Millennials. Just a bunch of spoiled adults, high on prescription drugs, constantly on their phones. I wonder who raised such delinquent irresponsible adults though?
