Bartenders are the most essential, by God!

They ARE essential, AOC. But what a lot of them do does not take much intelligence, and isn't hard or hazardous enough to warrant a "living wage". That's not it works. These workers are not hard to find. Work ethic is another animal, but those goes for any job.
These are the kinds of jobs that hire more entry level workers, because of the lack of necessary skills. They pay less, but hire more, and people get valuable experience to work their way up. That's capitalism.
You raise minimum wage, tons of people get cut. People like her read too many fairy tales. You just don't make people pay more money to their employees and suddenly solve everyone's problems. There is a chain reaction to every decision that is made.

Delivery drivers/warehouse stockers are skilled.
I see people who frequent this board try these jobs with complete failure.
Sitting behind a desk is ZERO skill

If you’d shut the borders down we could pay Americans more money to do those jobs

Well if they were skilled workers they would probably still be working.

She didn't list bartenders

Let’s just wait until November to if we still have to put up with your dum arse.

Better believe a good bartender is a skilled position...part comedian, part psychologist, occasionally a DJ, cashier, and there’s the actual mixing and serving of drinks.

AOC can write them a check anytime she feels like it.

Normally I'm REALLY opposed to living wage arguments. But I have to say, the folks risking illness for minimum wage have earned my respect.

I'd value teachers above all of those and I bet after this week, millions of exhausted parents would agree.

I will never understand how people get past their mid 20s and not still not understand the concept of replaceability and how it influences pay

She must not read much.
Types of Skilled Labor
Skilled labor refers to labor that requires workers who have specialized training or a learned skill-set to perform the work. These workers can be either blue-collar or white-collar workers, with varied levels of training or education. Very highly skilled workers may fall under the category of professionals, rather than skilled labor, such as doctors and lawyers.
Examples of skilled labor occupations are: electricians, law enforcement officers, computer operators, financial technicians, and administrative assistants. Some skilled labor jobs have become so specialized that there are worker shortages.
Types of Unskilled Labor
Unskilled labor does not require workers to have special training or skills. The jobs that require unskilled labor are continually shrinking due to technological and societal advances. Jobs that previously required little or no training now require training. For example, labor that was once done manually now may be assisted by computers or other technology, requiring the worker to have technological skills.
Examples of remaining unskilled labor occupations generally include farm laborers, grocery clerks, hotel maids, and general cleaners and sweepers. While these jobs are considered unskilled, each requires a degree of skill on the job. Farm laborers must operate precise machinery. Maids have a specific set of tasks to perform and inventory management responsibility while grocery clerks must manage money and learn how to stock shelves properly
