no it was a softball that trump should have used to end that narrative and denounce all supremacy and terror groups including the KKK, BLM, and Antifa. Then he should have talked about 2nd amendment rights and how he supports the right to carry.
It was a softball question that he could have used to end a narrative and could have flipped and asked Biden to denounce BLM and Antifa and other communist groups and put him on the run and on the record when it comes to gun control.
He fricked it up, stop blaming Wallace. Trump is not good at debates in that format, buts its mainly because he doesnt take coaching.
He has the issues, stick to them and hammer them home. It was not a hard question, Trump stuttered and tripped all over himself and missed a golden opportunity to knock the question out of the park, put joe on the defensive and to reiterate the facts about his record for black americans.

This is where Trump could have knocked it out the park.
He should have said of course I condemn white supremacist groups. I condemn all racist groups and groups who set out to divide us racially.
But what’s going on in these Democrat controller cities is not white supremacists. Unfortunately we are seeing civilians banding together to protect life and property because the local Democrat government is failing to provide law and order. The Democrat authorities by their failure to do their constitutional duty have created a vacuum and lawlessness has lead to looting, rioting and even deaths. This vacuum is being filled by anarchists and good law abiding citizens who want to protect their property and their well being.
He should have said of course I condemn white supremacist groups. I condemn all racist groups and groups who set out to divide us racially.

The problem is that white supremacy isn't the issue. Wallace and the left are trying to deflect. "Look Over There" bullshite. This is so far of topic. Any and all question in regards to civil unrest should be about Antifa and BLM...period.

I don't know, and I think it's a risk Trump doesn't want to take. I also think it's wrong to paint them as white supremacists when they are not. If Trump allows this characterization to happen, it opens up new floodgates to wrongfully destroy these groups of people. Trump tried to defend them, but did so awkwardly.

Trump wasn't dog whistling. It was a bullshite question that he obviously didn't prepare for and answered terribly. It's not an either/or situation.
Trump got a "when did you stop beating your wife?" question and clearly wasn't prepared for it, even though it should have been obvious.

I want him to be a better politician, which means being dishonest a bit.
Kind of like how Joe Biden said he didn't support the Green New Deal when his campaign site refences his GND-like plan.
I will say that even with Trump fricking up this easy question, he still doesn't have the worst response.
Biden refused to answer if he'd support court packing. He straight up said he wouldn't give an answer. That's not even dishonest that's literally hiding in public view. How that isn't making more headlines is shocking.
