If Stephen Miller tweets out something that will happen tomorrow, and then a department head then takes that action is Stephen Miller then the person who “did” it?

You mean the Stephen Miller who is in a cabinet position?

Corporations don't traumatize their workforce like this.

Company I know of has every employee send a daily report at the end of each day with short paragraphs on what each person did.

Small bus, 25-30 employees, lowish 8 figure revenue.

How many additional employees are needed to review these responses and how much do they make?

These will obviously be routed to their direct manager and possibly one level up from that.

You think government managers are too busy to review emails from their direct reports?

Good God things are worse than I thought.

The idea that this concept was met with anything besides agreement at best and apathy at worst is concerning.

That anyone, especially private sector Americans, would disagree with more accountability is insane.

Make believe I work for region ? of the EPA in New York and I issue my 5 bullets

1. Bought a subway pass for return to work requirement

2. Told a permit applicant from Puerto Rico I will not coordinate permit availability for a waste water remediation plant with the Super fund permit writer two floors below

3. Filed a leave request with my supervisor for parental leave

4. Processed my expense acct form

5. Attended a seminar regards environment consideration for remediation projects on Indian lands

and thats how the epa works to provide clean air and water

Most software shops have a daily stand up with a 3 question structure: What did you do yesterday, what are you doing today, what are you blocked by.

The only issues I have with these types of things is that, eventually, they will all just be repeats of the previous week. I stood up a server, I helped a customer, I sold a car. And they're very easy to embellish without culpability.

all the emails really say is "I did my job."
with no reflection of whether that's true or not.

So.. my take is that they are pointless as they don't illuminate anything and they only aggravate and take away work hours from those who are contributing.

Not that it matters to my overall point, because the president can take advice from anyone of his choosing, but Stephen Miller does not hold a cabinet position.

He is deputy chief of staff, which does not require senate confirmation.

Why not ask them to email their direct reports then? Why email everyone?

I'm starting to think Musk doesn't have shite. Why go through all of this trouble when they could just get reports from the supervisors or from performance reports? There wouldn't be any need for this if they wanted to go straight to firing people.

there is software that can fix this and keep the mouse or the machine active.

You’re going to install software that does this on your work computer? Yikes. You’re not the brightest bulb, are you?

You’re an idiot. This is already being sent to our supervisors on a weekly basis. Having OPM threaten firings is the problem. Please tell me why I should send an email to OPM!

I work for my agency not OPM.

Because they obviously don’t yet trust the entrenched bureaucracy.

Just so you know, that was placed upon Fed Gov heatlhcare workers, one of which I know personally. And that was a huge group of professionals, and the MIL was subjected to that pressure too. There were was a large amount of private companies that didn't take the bait and didn't pass it on. So bad analogy there, brutha.

So what. There are huge consulting firms that come into companies all across the country and advise certain actions be taken. If the company decides to adopt the recommendations, the employees don’t get to say “nah…I don’t work for the consulting firm”. I am just amazed how upset so many people. Are over a 5 minute assignment.

Are all of you government workers or just anti Trump or anti musk? There is no other reasonable reason to be upset over this.

It's meant to irritate and demoralize, like some others have said, and to create some controversy and spectacle and allow the base to experience some a little schadenfreude at the suffering of the PMC.

we use Caffeine on display machines that have to stay active in our offices but the mouse-moving software is not something I have used but something our remote people have used to try and make it seem like they are working when they're not. you should probably try to understand the full story before talking shite.
