The current division among Americans has been developing for decades, but by the 2016 election the line between two sides was objectively defined.

You were either for Trump or against him.

There has been little room in the middle for moderates, libertarians, and members of other 3rd parties. Through the Russian hoax and now this impeachment BS, the line dividing us is becoming thinner and thinner.

Trump hasn't changed. Whether you like him or not, I believe he is still the same man elected in 2016. The radical left is a different story. In the past few years they have drove that wedge deeper and deeper, forcing those in the middle to pick a side. If you don't support impeachment, then you're "one of them" in their eyes. I didn't vote for Trump and I didn't vote for Hillary, but if they want me to buy into Pelosi's impeachment bullshite, then I will happily chose a side and it wont be theirs. The fact that I find myself defending the President scares me shitless, because it could only mean there is only one alternative. They will never learn that many of those that stand behind the president do so not because they love him, but because they hate the only alternative offered to them.

I would argue that there is plenty of room left by the void of the left marching farther left. However, it would be correct to say that you would have no room in today's current political discourse.

Another major problem is that there are many who CLAIM to be moderates that are wildly leftists. The term moderate is ruined by them.

Not in 2016. I was neither for Trump nor against. I did vote for him in 16 but did not work to make sure he won.

2020 is a different story I and my organizations are actively working, supporting his re-election. I know many who are in the same boat as I.

I agree. What he has done though is prove out. I didn't support him because I believed leading up to the 2016 election his words about protecting the vulnerable of society were simply rhetoric and he didn't really believe them and certainly would not act in accord with them. I was wrong. He has been stronger on protecting the innocent and vulnerable than any other modern president.

I consider myself very middle I also didn’t vote for trump or Clinton. But I’m with you, the only thing they’re doing is driving more of us to the right. It’s insane.

One of the biggest issues outside of impeachment for me is all the democrats acting like the lgbt community is oppressed as African Americans during the civil rights movement. It blows my mind.

The division gets deeper because Fed Gov gets bigger / more powerful. If Fed Gov was small, we’d not be so desperate for control within it.

Most of those 4 million votes for Gary Johnson are going to go to Trump this time. The Dems have made a serious miscalculation or flat just don’t care if they lose 2020.

I'm 71. I've been seeing it since I was 15. It started before that.

I hated Trump during his TV days. Although I liked most of his promises I was pissed about some things he said. Not my 1st choice.

When he became the candidate I backed him all the way. I don't regret it.

same here. I was/am a never-Hillary-er. I was never a fan of the New York loudmouth Donald trump, but figured if he did 10% of what he said, it’d be better than Hillary running this country into the abyss.

I’ve learned that Trump’s life of brawling with foes and becoming a pop culture icon were necessary to become the hero we need. It’s one of the reasons the libs hate him so much— he uses their tactics against them and he’s better at it than they are. All he does is win.

I now idolize the man for risking it all to save the republic and for bitch slapping the prog filth on the reg. He’s not perfect, but he fights and middle America needed a fighter. And he has exceptional taste in wimmins bc I love Melania. God bless Donald Trump and his family

It's not unusual for the mentally ill to deny they are mentally ill.

I don't think the radical left has changed at all. Paid any attention to the 8 years of Obummer. The vail has been lifted and they have been exposed who they really were.

Ditto on that post. I'd only add that the mention of many others to the effect that although they support him as POTUS, "they don't really approve of his personal actions or morals or character etc"....I wish those types would kindly lay out the exact nature of those negative marks, and then let us know whether they themselves have never indulged in tasteless locker room talk, or, say, coveted or lusted after another woman in porn videos, or had impure thoughts about someone at work or observed in the store, etc.

And I personally wouldn't accept an argument of "Well, but he's the President of the United States" yadda yadda. We likely all have others who look up to us or for whom we set an example. So what makes any of his prior in life actions so very out of line with our own actions in life? Past and present. How could such a person do any judging whatsoever??

Maybe all the people who say that about Trump are pure and completely free of any past immoral indiscretions, to whatever degree, but again, I'd find it hard to believe.
