So, taking Iran's main negotiation point off the table is not viable?
It is already sliding off the table. I would say given oil prices that it is already a non-factor.
There is a dark fleet moving most of the oil already.
Alternate routes are coming online.
Markets won't tolerate a chokepoint for long. Oil will find a way to flow.

Right, but they want to keep using it as a negotiation point. Take it off the table. Fully.

You're OK with that?
Not really.
If the geneva convention is dead, we should take the gloves off.
I think you are right, it only serves to handcuff us while our dirtbag adversaries ignore it.

Its been dead for atleast 20 years

Just like a crayon eater, acting before they think.
I understand military mobility/countermobility operations at the tactical and lower strategic level since I did them professionally. You are calling for something that is unlikely to be practical in the first place from a simple asset level and impedes future mobility of out own military. These are just the issues on the military level.
This is like people calling for carpet bombing Iran, they simply don't understand the breadth of what they are calling for.

Have you let Pete know about your solution to this problem? He could take this up in his morning meeting.
Be the change you want to see in the world. Good luck.

Mining international waters is not a good thing sir.

Yet not one reply how this isn't a more effective plan than what we have done or intend to do.
Did you miss this one…

We already have a blockade that keeps Iran from doing any business in the Strait. We gain nothing by mining it except for blowing up ships we would like to see pass safely.
I think that is about as decisive a rebuttal as we’ll ever see.

You're a fricking retarded.
If true, I don't know what that makes you. What is 50 IQ points below retarded?

Im sure your solution is ground troops, or worse, whatever bullshite deal they put out.
Nope, just know mining is unlikely to be possible or useful in this situation.

You clearly dont know how to deal with Arabs.
Which Arabs are we dealing with? Do you think Iranians are Arab? If so you really do need to take a seat in the corner.

Greet job in Grenada tho...
I never said anything about Granada. I wasn't there. Just another example of you not knowing what you are talking about. Granada was OUF.

Feel like you had a good plan?
You set us up great in 2003.
100% from a tactical to mid-strategic level is was near perfect, too perfect in fact. We were so fast and so effective the top strategic thinkers stopped up because they were worried the optics of Highway 1 were so bad it would turn the stomach of the international public. Our main two issues were outrunning logistics (which in the modern world is damn hard to do with the US military) and processing prisoners.

The us should mine the strait
Probably lots of salt deposits but keeping it from caving in would be a bitch.

The US should have a plan for their enemies most important resources prior to starting a bombing campaign.
Amateur hour.
I agree but in this case, who would have known Lloyd's Insurance was in on the grift and would call the shots.

I read this OP and immediately thought of the episode of Gilligan's Island where one washed up on shore.
