Fair point, but THIS time we had a Secretary of War who didn't SOUND like he felt there were constraints on the use of force. I just don't know where people get the impression there is any constraint on Trump’s ability to use the military.

In September 2025, speaking to senior generals and admirals at Quantico, Hegseth said:
“No more adherence to ‘stupid rules of engagement.’”
And the Congressional Record later quoted his Quantico remarks more extensively, including:
“Don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement, just common sense, maximum lethality and authority for warfighters.”

March 2, 2026: At the outset of the Iran war, he specifically promised “no stupid rules of engagement” and said, “We fight to win.”
