The stigma associated with obesity permeates our culture. A recent study showed that negative perceptions from the medical community are all too common for people living with obesity, particularly members of the Black and Latinx communities. The study found that up to 74 percent of people felt shamed or belittled when visiting a doctor, making them less likely to seek care in the future. Obesity has a disproportionate impact on people of color: 49.6 percent of Black Americans and 44.8 percent of Latinx Americans are living with obesity.

Stigma of obesity?
The fact that it’s incredibly terrible for one’s health to be obese?
That’s a reality…not a “stigma”

Not that they are living with obesity, but they are choosing to live with obesity.

Good Lord. There is no shortage of obese white people. The percentage of non-Hispanic whites that are obese is 42.2. The data come from a variety of cohorts and surveys that estimate these demographics. The 7% difference is very likely to be within the margin of error on any given survey/cohort relative to the actual values. Citing this as some major health disparity is ridiculous.
Can someone tell journos that just because you can work race into your article, doesn't mean you should.

I love how because facts show that a specific group of folks is more likely to be something that it is because of racism.
The media doesnt care that each group has a culture that makes them behave a certain way.

Speaking from a fat boys perspective its not a stigma, its actual facts. If you don't want to suffer this 'stigma' then eat less, put down the beer, and move more.

Human bodies are racist, otherwise being fat would be healthy

What's the problem?
We're told that folks like Lizzo and Chrissy Metz are the portraits of health, irrespective of being the size of baby hippos.
Besides, if there's a subsegment of the population that embraces IDGAF ideology, it's black women, so what does external stigma matter? It's not like they're going to stop wearing whatever they choose, and think they're the sexiest thing in the room as they do it.

It's shorthand to let folks know that anything said by someone who uses "Latinx" in earnest can be disregarded wholesale, as their opinions are totally worthless.
Ditto for when someone "shares their pronouns."

Same percentage with black males. The outlier that spikes the black rate is black females.

Giving people $500 a month EBT cards isn't racist but them buying 100,000 calories with it is racist
