We still have a sizeable minority of people that would fight to last bitter drop of blood. I'd rather fight with those than be burdened with the others. I think many on this board are patriots.
I know this is the popular theory but had it not been for Hitler being a total idiot and invading Russia odds are pretty good he held on to a sizeable portion of Europe and the world would be vastly different today than it is. Russia was going to route Germany as long as Germany was intent on pursuing two fronts.

Hypersonic Missiles have changed the outcome of Naval engagements in favor of China and Russia. Simple - you can't stop them. One Hypersonic Missile can disable a USA Carrier.
So while Barack Obama was surrendering our nuclear capability, via open mic negoiation, to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev the Russians (and their ally China) were busy developing their hypersonic missiles. Now they have'um, and we don't have a viable defense to defeat them.
This leads me to my question. How long before either the Ruskies or the ChiComs demonstrate the invincibility of their Hypersonic Missiles against an American carrier? Furthermore, how long after the demonstration will Joe Biden and the MSM take to blame Donald Trump for the devestating outcome?

And Japan has been rumbling about rebuilding a real military. Not the "self defense force" we made them insert into their constitution after WW2. But a real military with offensive capabilities.
And a rearmed Japan is nothing that the Chinese want to mess with. They could effectively stop Chinas take over of the South China Sea.

Hypersonic is old technology. The USA was working on them in the 50's and 60's and decided against them. Hypersonic drag is still a major issue.

It’s beyond me that anyone could downvote what you’ve commented. I guess for some the truth hurts. The Chinese know, what makes China a nation is not the land under their feet, but the Chinese who dominate the country. Multicultural nations are temporary, eventually they transform to the dominant culture. If you don’t understand this, just go visit old neighborhoods and cities in the USA.

A Chinese spokesman made the statement before the Olympics, that China believes in diversity of ideas. I guess that’s how you think when you’re building a nation, not a football or basketball team.

Maybe. But the concept of anti-ship missiles has been tried and found viable. As the British found out with those Argentine French AM 39 Exocet anti-ship missiles during the Falklands War.
You say the USA scrapped the concept of Hypersonic Missiles? Well you sure fooled me. It appears the DOD is trying to play catchup with their own version of the Hypersonic Missile.

Maybe, maybe not. You cannot say that definitively. No one can. Raytheon, Northrop, and a host of other defense contractors are and have been working on interceptors and other tech to defeat them for some time now.

A demonstration? The destruction of a US carrier and the lost of as many as 5000 sailors is a little more than a demonstration.
