Why try to make the simple complicated. Oswald was a nobody who wanted to be a somebody and the opportunity presented itself. It's probably the case with Crooks as well.

there would have to have been one at just the correct angle to see trump and the building in background.
i don’t know how the exact crowd layout was to know if there was a spot that would have caught that particular angle to see it happening

I've heard this talk about the trajectory, but nothing of the topography of the land, what obstacles were between the building and the stage, etc..
With JFK , the "magic bullet" theory made sense, until one moved from looking at a 2D diagram to 3D.
Does the land slope up, stay level or go down from one point to the other? Doesn't seem like the stage was all that elevated. Just a half of flight of stairs.
If the shooter had to get up on the building to acquire his target, because the terrain sloped up, then a flat trajectory would actually make some sense. Even if he was up on top of the roof.

Because nothing about this is "simple". From a kid managing to walk around being "suspicious" with a range finder, to somehow him getting on a roof with a rifle while being noticed but not apprehended, to this guy being deemed a threat yet Trump was allowed to get on stage, to the USSS director not being forthcoming...

5:52 p.m. Crooks was spotted on the roof by Secret Service
6:02 p.m. Trump takes the stage
6:12 p.m. Crooks fires first shots

It's possible. Also reports by several witnesses of a shooter in the water tower. If it was a conspiracy, two shooters (one pro and one patsy who dies on the spot), is the way to do it. Who knows?

Also look at the still picture of the bullet that passes by Trump. Angle is flat, not downward as it wood be if shooter was at a height.

As someone else stated, we do not know the elevation of the stage and the topography of the ground. It's possible a roof shot could be pretty flat in relation to Trump on the stage.
