Every where we look in the universe from the smallest sun atomic particle to the largest clusters of galaxies we see order.

To believe that all happened by a accident or random chance is absurd.

This thread is WILD

The things otherwise intelligent, educated adults are capable of believing never ceases to amaze me.

It blows my mind that people don’t understand this. We can see the EXACT spot where two different chromosomes found in all other living great apes fused together to form human chromosome 2. Like you can literally physically look at it:

You can look up the EXACT DNA sequences of the fused segments.

This is like bouncing a laser off the mirrors we left on the moon and still refusing to believe that we landed on the moon.

Often lens flares. Other times classified aircraft/drones.

In no cases have they been shown to be what you're trying to imply they are or what you're skirting around what you think they did billions of years ago.

Like atheists believing in objective morality. Wild.

You're typically capable of discussing this like an adult, which is not always true on either side, so kudos for that.

It's weird that you need a 5,000 year old book to tell you it's bad to murder and rape people.

If it didn't exist, if you had been born in China, would you just be raping and murdering everyone?

how many of them were on the ark?

There are about 117 different ways that the ark story is physically impossible.

Probably the most basic and the one that should end the discussion from jump street is you can calculate the exact amount of water needed to flood the world to the height described in Genesis, and that amount of water does not nor has it ever existed.

See the problem with the Old Testament is that it was written before humans knew much of anything about the world or the physical realities of existence, and so it was written without any thought that someone someday might be able to actually do the math and figure out that none of this made sense. If that had occurred to them they wouldn’t have given such specific details. Because they did, many of the historical and scientific claims can be fact checked.

I don’t believe in objective morality

But even if I did, believing logical inconsistencies is not the same thing as believing things that are demonstrably physically impossible. Or not believing things that are demonstrable fact.

I’ve read enough to know that you’re not remotely capable of having this discussion. But you’re also not interested in a serious discussion so it doesn’t really matter.

I mean technically he’s right, in terms of true universal objective morality. Such a thing can’t exist without an absolute law giver.

In practice though it’s largely just fodder for philosophy class, as certain fundamental behavioral tendencies have to be abided by a majority of the population to even be able to discuss the question. These behaviors were evolutionary selected for because a social species such as ours couldn’t exist without them. And now we’ve created societies on the basis of these rules and behaviors and they are dependent on them.

So the fact that they aren’t “objective” isn’t all that relevant from a practical law and order perspective. You either enforce certain behaviors or society ceases to function.

The discussion is only relevant once you start getting into behaviors and actions that don’t have a dramatic day to day impact on society apart from the existence of the action itself and subsequent debate, such as smoking weed or having gay sex. The sorts of behaviors that ar even really only seen as immoral from a theological perspective of some sort but have no functional societal basis for being immoral or illegal.

You talk as if you do. You use language like (I’m paraphrasing here) “religion may not be true but it has a positive influence”. I know people who claim they don’t believe in free will or objective morality; I don’t know anybody who behaves or even talks that way in normal conversation.

There May Be a Second Massive Ocean Deep Beneath the Surface

Earth may have underground 'ocean' three times that on surface

Genesis 7:11-12 11 "In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month—on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights."

...just to be clear, to anyone who forgot to read past the children's teaching of the Noah flood that water did NOT just come from the rain, but also from the Abyss (the Tehome), the deep.

You might want to read Genesis for an explanation because "The Science" (the same one that believes we are "evolved from apes" and in Men who "become women") is woefully clueless & ignorant on what's not only possible, BUT, Geology possible (not to mention purposely oblivious on the Scriptural record and in the Supernatural):

quote:

Genesis Chapter 7, Verse 11, KJV:

In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

NOTE: "Founts of the great deep were broken up" = massive Subterranean volumes of water were unleashed -- as well as untold waters from "windows of heaven". "Above the Firmament" are the waters.

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

Genesis Chapter 1, Verse 7 KJV:

And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

quote:

It's all already historically and scientifically been "checked" for accuracy. Source: THE HOLY BIBLE. Author: GOD.

If you don't accept the truth, that's on you.

The ignorance and hubris in this thread from the Evo-Pagan Peanut Gallery is stunning.
