They’re not mindless drone that do whatever the Party tells them. That’s a good thing.

It's the same way with the texas republican party. The house speaker, dade Phelan, is a rino who uses democrats at the expense of the conservatives.. I still think trump should have started a new party.

“Thinking for themselves” is usually just code for covering their bases with the US Chamber of Commerce.

Your post is a great illustration of how bumper sticker politics leads people to think dumb things.

Their constituency may be different than the constituency you are in. Democrats are monolithically dedicated to destroying any republican agenda. Other than Manchin and Sinema is there another D moderate? And certainly not in the House. Republicans in their slim majority can't hang together. And certainly not with the MAGA agenda which was likely to impeach Mayorkas.

One problem is. Maga thinks 1/3 the Party is ran by Rinos, while MAGA is run by a Rino. MAGA doesn't = Republican.

That makes zero sense.

They’re having a hard time pulling voters from the Gen Z and Millenials. Look at the demographics of GOP voters and that should tell you everything.

Is they have no interest in winning. They want to be the minority party because it gives them an excuse to not fight for anything

Bingo! They, the left, infiltrate the Republican Party with a few new members yearly and are able to eliminate our advantage.

Plus they are able to get compromised individuals into positions of leadership and manipulate them.

Gop is controlled opposition. Had been for several decades.

Look at how deep McCain was hidden. For several years, he had preached about getting rid of Obamacare by any means necessary. He pretended to sympathize with arizonans who were being crushed by Obamacare. Then as soon as trump tried to spearhead the taking down of Obamacare, McCain shed the false facade, and stopped pretending. He was the vote that saved Obamacare.

I view the gop as being filled with McCains. Politicians who will virtue signal and pretend to want certain things when they believe they will never get those things. But the moment they are called on, they will backstab everyone who voted for them...and show that they had always been bought and paid for. They just hid it.

During this impeachment.. had those Republicans not stepped out and voted no. Other Republicans would've stepped out and voted no. There will always be Republicans who step out and vote in favor of the permanent government.

I'd hate to imagine how many of the maga Republicans...are in fact just hidden, and biding their time.

There is no "the problem." There are just problems.

1. They do not believe in big government so they do not involve themselves in big government. As a result they do not understand how big government works and more importantly how big government doesn't work.

2. They tend to not particularly care about the nuances of politics. They consider politics to be a necessary evil. They are not students of politics. Very few Republicans ever react to politics like Chris Matthews reacts to politics.

3. As long as they have the reputation (no matter how accurate or inaccurate that reputation actually is) of being anti-abortion they will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, to the power of infinity get anywhere close to 50% of the vote from women for any candidate they roll out there. If a person invented a cure for breast cancer and then ran for office as a Republican women would not vote for them.

4. The country club Republican is a dinosaur from the 20th century. The modern day elitist is Democrat through and through. The future of the Republican Party lies with championing the issues and shortcomings of the middle and working class. Too many in the party's leadership refuse to accept this.

5. The Democrat Party of today has become the Republican Party of the 1970s through the 1990s. The party of the corporation and big business. In order to survive the Republican Party must become the Democrat Party of the 1960s through the 1980s. The party of the anti-establishment hippies and the party of the blue collar worker. If it ever wants to become the norm again it must reinvent itself as the counterculture to what is offered today. This involves long term thinking and planning which is extremely unpopular when the leadership of your party is old enough to remember where they were when Kennedy was killed. When you are eighty something years old you aren't interested in long term anything.
