I'll take a cool $6k. It would be nice if I could get a check for the other $4k.

If you're a white guy, you might want to go ahead and get on the schedule for your sex change operation if you want in on that.

Why do taxpayers have to foot the bill for this?

Why not mandate the colleges give refunds if their students graduate and make less than a high school grad, lol.

I've still got student loans up the arse, but I can't agree with this line of thinking. I know people who were more responsible than me and who have already paid them off. How is it fair to the people who paid off their loans on time? Do they get a refund of their money for having done so?

You have your hand out. Disgraceful.

As I've said for years, this board is not really very conservative.

Yeah I’m sure all of the millennials who made sacrifices to pay off their student loans are going to be thrilled to watch the government handwave away the deadbeat’s loans.

Imagine spending your 20s not buying a house, not buying luxuries, not going on nice vacations because you wanted to pay off your $50k before you started a family. Then you watch everyone else get theirs deleted.

Why is he stopping with forgiveness? Shouldn’t there be a refund too?

Yep I’m with you. I spent my 20’s paying my bill each month. $400 a month and then looking at my principal balance and watching it go down by pennies as everything went to interest. I eventually bought a town house later in my twenties as I made a little more money. Drained my IRA from a rolled over 401K from a previous employer to put my 2% down on a FHA loan. I renovated the house and after doing so realizing the value that I had increased as I worked on that house for 11 months after work each night. I decided if we wanted to get rid of the student loans we had to sell the house and realize the gains. So we did that. I sold the house. Made 75K and paid off my $50K in loans and both my cars. Had just enough left to put another downpayment on a home. I was debt free but it really sucked having done all that work on the house and watching it all go to students loans. But that’s the investment I made. So I did it and it was a proud day for me knowing I had done it and I didn’t need anyone’s help to do it.

I’ll be irritated if these get deleted. I get school is expensive but if you don’t want the smoke then don’t go to school. There are jobs and trades that quite frankly we need to get younger folks in rather than sitting in a classroom getting a useless degree under the indoctrination of the university system and piling up debt to get a degree that has no real job at the end of it to pay your loan back. Unless you are going to school to be a doctor, accountant, architect, engineer, etc. you are wasting your time and money.

I worked my way through the third most expensive state school at the time and then grad school with no loans. When do I get my money back?

Well frick me and my wife for being responsible and paying off our collective $75k in SL debt...

Just ask elizabeth warren, will we get any kind of incentive for paying ours off?

"Of course not."
