As I expected.
Same story, day after day:
Russia makes gains, shells the cities, makes life hard on Ukraine.
Ukrainians are fighting back. Russian soldiers are abandoning equipment. Russian equipment is breaking down, running out of fuel, etc.
Ultimately, it's always looked like Russia would take the country and then face a long, brutal occupation / insurgency. I think that's more likely now than it was.

Not surprising, but Iran has entered the chat. Blames US, calling them a mafia regime
Sheesh, Iran needs to get with the program. It is a radical left marxist WEF regime. Get it right next time or sanctions headed your way.

Anyone seen any other info about the 2 transporters that were reported as shot down?

I still believe the choking of Kyiv/Kiev will be one of the most brutal sieges the world has seen.
I am not sure that fall of Saigon will be spoke of like this will be.

Per @MattiMaasikas, Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, the Slovenian Consulate in Kharkiv was destroyed by the strike on the Kharkiv admin building.

After weeks and months of bombing and starving…just how are they going to survive starvation?
This. Interview yesterday with a Kiev citizen who stated she couldn't find food or bread. Kiev isn't even surrounded yet. I seriously doubt Kiev or any major Ukr city is really prepared for siege. Doesn't take long for starvation to produce surrender.

1) To continue on the point that the Russian offensive was planned and is making gains. Russian troops have reached Zaporizhzhia, which is about a 160 miles drive from the jumpoff point in Crimea. 160 miles in less than 6 days is impressive.
quote:
2) Additionally, Russian troops took control of Berdyans'k (also about 160 miles from Russian-held Crimea) and Enerhodar (also 160 miles distant)
quote:
3) Additionally, that massive column of Russian troops, estimated to be 40 miles long, appears to be fanning out west of Kiev in preparation for the encirclement of the city.
quote:
4) I am particularly interested in the column that is advancing from the Kursk area southwest towards Kiev. If successful, Russian will envelop Ukrainian forces in Chernikiv and Sumy provinces. Same goes with Mariupol in the southeast on Sea of Azov.
quote:
5) The Ukrainian military has some tough choices to make, and must make them soon. The Ukrainian military is putting up a tough fight but the Russian advance is grinding along. Defending everything risks losing all.
quote:
6) An imperfect analogy, but all analogies are imperfect. The Afghan government/military made the same mistake of trying to defend all areas of the country. When it was clear that Kabul was under threat, ANDSF still fought for control of Kandahar & Lashkar Gah.

They outran their supply lines it seems like early on.
But since Ukraine couldn't defend outside the cities it allows for the logistics to eventually catch up.
They had Kyiv encircled last night on the highways with artillery attacks. I imagine they'll just begin closing the net now.
Ukraine's best hope has always been to Garner enough sympathy that someone breaks the seige in time.
Doesn't mean you won't see them fight on long after the government is gone...

Nobody thinks they're "winning."
They're defending better than expected.
Huge difference. Ukrainians are positioning themselves for a long insurgency / counter-occupation. That's very different than repelling the invaders and then chasing them back to Moscow.

I thought they were supposed to have one of the largest armies in Europe.

The names haven't changed. The Black Sea is the larger body of water, and the Sea of Azov is the part that is east of the Crimean peninsula.
Why are we using facts now? ??
