They used Patton's 3rd Army for a decoy to force the Germans to respond. Pissed Patton off having troops sitting there doing nothing but it worked.

I've said from the beginning that this will all come down to the will to fight. Ukrainians have a deep historical animosity toward Moscow a lot of which is within families' personal histories.
Stalin "exiled" 5 or 6 million leading Ukrainians who were never seen again and then starved another 5 or 6 million to death as he was exporting grain to Europe for cash. That won't be forgotten.
I predict that Russia will crumble from the ground up.

Russia has the largest Ukrainian diaspora in the world, and more than 3.5 million worked in Russia in 2020. Its common for Ukrainians in the eastern and southerner regions to have family that live in Russia.

Just watch what is occurring north of Kharkiv and you'll have your answer soon.
You do understand that Ukraine is going to have numerical advantages in both men and equipment (if they don't already) in the near future. Combine that with the modern arms the west is pumping into the theater...that's how it's going to happen.

If Ukraine sends troops into Russia Russia will 100% commence a full mobilization.

The Russians invaded with a numerically inferior force.
They claim they’re currently inflicting casualties at a 7:1 ratio though.

Yes and no.
The Leopards Is and the Polish T-72s are not as advanced as the tanks Ukraine had at the outset of the war.
And we’re sending a hodgepodge of systems, which will complicate their supply issues.
We’re also not sending enough heavy equipment. They don’t need 100 artillery pieces for example, they need 500.
It’s also difficult to get that equipment to the front lines. And how are they going to maintain it..

I hope smart people are a little concerned for the worlds largest stockpile of nukes when everyone seems to be cheering for the complete destruction of Russia.
I really do hope it all works out but destabilizing that many nukes is quite concerning…..

Yea, they probably will, and 3 months later after they bring those troops in, train them (to their very high standards), equip them (With what?), and deploy them to the battlefield, they MIGHT make a difference. Mobilization won't save Russia from a rapid advance by the Ukrainians.
Ukraine mobilized at the start of the war and those troops are starting to come out of training and be deployed...2 months later.

All I am going to say is Russia is one of those countries that will put anyone breathing on the line if invaded.

The Ukrainians have manpower issues. Look at the older men depicted in combat footage and PoW videos.
Also look at the decision to send the territorial defense forces to the front lines.

There's no doubt Ukraine's military has been attritted, the question is how badly. The Ukrainian replacement forces are flowing to the front faster than Russia's.

Good lord.
There is very little risk in most of ukriane, freeing up these territorial defense forces… they can now fill non-combat roles previously performed by regular troops… that frees up regular troops for front line duty.

Agreed, but if Russia pops off a nuke, even in defense of Belgorod, there is going to be immense pressure on NATO to come off the sideline...if that happens, who knows where this ends up.

It ends up is lots of death. No one wants that. If Ukraine manages to fully push Russia out, it would be dumb to keep going “into” Russia. It would be dumber than Russia invading them.

In one article last week, a reporter interviewed a Ukrainian officer who had been pulled off the line for a (single) day of rest.
He had been a cadet at a military academy before the war, and was pulled from school and placed in command of 120 men.

A quick scan of the OT version of this thread will quickly 'educate' you on the overwhelming power and invincibility of the glorious Ukrainian armed forces.
Which is ironic since the same folks saying that if we don't keep funneling tens/hundreds of billions of dollars per month to Ukraine - that Russia, who they say are completely inept keystone cops, will take over Ukraine, Poland, all the Baltics and commence WW3

- they sound suspiciously just like the dims / greenies who tell us that the only solution to 'climate change' is ALSO coincidentally tens / hundreds of billions (or trillions) of USA taxpayer dollars.
