What I don't understand is if Russia really wanted to destroy Ukraine all they had to do was blanket bomb them to nothing but piles of rubble.
Unless they don't have the capability to do this.

The Ukraine is about the size of Texas. I doubt NATO could blanket bomb the entire country. Even if we brought in the Aussies, the Japanese, and the South Koreans to help.
It is also hard to reduce a major city. The Russians have been pouring hell itself onto Mariupol for weeks now and pockets of resistance are still holding on. Kviy is much, much larger.
Also, historically speaking, undisciplined armies, and the Russians are very undisciplined, are far more prone to commit war crimes and execute civilians. As soon as the Russian attack collapsed, which it almost instantly did, all of this was guaranteed to happen.

Because our politicians are determined to waste our tax dollars. I wish it was different and I vote for ppl to make it different, but that is not an option until the fall. In the mean time instead of throwing an internet hissy fit 45-50 times per day . I am going the show and the small victory that the US government decided to spend billions on a foreign military at least it’s a Christian country that is friendly to the USA, and actually wants to fight for the same things as the USA.
Plus the Ukrainians have a large pool of skilled and unskilled labor that is willing to come to the USA the right way and actually obey out immigration laws. Give me a legal Ukrainian immigrant who is grateful to have the opportunity to be in the USA and is willing to work over an illegal immigrant or lazy American who doesn’t want to work and doesn’t realize how lucky they are to be Americans.
