Where is this map from and why should we trust it more than the map from the French Ministry of Defense?

That comment cuts both way doesn't it?

But with the multiple responses, I feel I have successfully triggered the poli-board. Win.

Ukraine isn’t WW2 France

The distance between the Franco-German border and Paris is significantly more than that from the Belorussian-Ukrainian border and Kiev. More than that, the French army in 1940 was better equipped and larger than that of the Wehrmacht. What killed the French was outdated doctrine and their high command.

No what killed the French was political instability mainly, otherwise they wouldn’t have capitulated after the capture of Paris.

The Germans flanked the French and didn't bother with Paris. Very different than the Russian strategy concerning Kiev.

Russia says it has captured Ukraine's Melitopol

The city hall has fallen.

Looks like at least 80% of Melitopol captured by pro-Russian troops

They didn't surrender for a further eight days after the fall of Paris. The French army had been beaten in the field, with the vast majority of its best units evacuated to England or captured on the beaches of Dunkirk. There was no choice but to surrender.

Poland plans to send troops to Ukraine.

HaHaHa

Poland never learn from its own history. There is a reason this country got destroyed multiple times in the last 500 years.

What is Chinese media reporting about the conflict? Do they say Russia is having trouble or do they say Russia is accomplishing their goals decisively?

That's because the Germans faked the British and French out. It was assumed by both high commands that the Germans would repeat what they did in World War I and attack France through neutral Belgium. Once the German assault began, British and French forces would begin moving from northern France and into neutral Belgium to blunt the attack.

The Germans used the Allied plan against them by feinting into Belgium while their main attack swung around behind them via Sedan. Once the Dunkirk pocket had collapsed, the Germans turned toward Paris.

A spokesman in the Russian foreign ministry said that Ukraine had squandered its chance at being an independent state.

I believe Russia will directly annex much of Ukraine, sanctions can’t get worse than they are, there’s no price to pay now, but I don’t know if they want Kiev.

At this point, their initial assault having failed, they may be using it to tie up the Ukrainians.

Chinese official medias are quoting reports from both sides. More on calling for peace etc.

People tend to believe Russian reports since the front line is not lying. The fighting line keeps moving deeper into Ukraine territory.
