I disagree here. The MAGA crowd, like all groups, want power and when Desantis is the clear best path in 2028 for the GOP they will come on board.
I don’t think DeSantis weakness in a 2028 campaign will be the MAGA or GOP base.
It will be convincing independents to sign up for another round of GOP control immmediately coming off Trump.
It will be a very McCain-esque problem and DeSantis is probably less likeable on camera than was McCain.
