The new rule to avoid teaching real American History - We must avoid that which triggers!!

What a concept. Our educators can now "rewrite" history by simply avoiding it due to emotions being triggered. Never mind the wonderful emotions that almost all will feel regarding our nation's history.
What will they think of next? It is never ending.
I'm triggered. Can we not talk about our history?

My first U.S. History class on a college campus was 1860 - Present Day (this was a while ago for me).
Older Southern guy was the professor (not LSU) and when talking about slavery...I remember what he said exactly, as we had some true African Americans in the class who could not hide their shocked faces.
"Ohhhh...slavery wasn't all that bad. They couldn't treat them too poorly because they needed them to work".
I was like, this is going to be an interesting class.

People forget the slave owner with the most white and black slaves in Louisiana was a black man. Yes, the bad actors have been certainly highlighted but far more slave owners were very good to their help.

It's not just avoiding American History. Our students don't know shite about world history. And that's more important in order to avoid making the same mistakes made throughout the centuries.

Sounds like "conservatives" and the want to avoid speaking about uncomfortable history at the Smithsonian. Good thing those inconvenient and uncomfortable issues are also being avoided on the left as well.

I was actually thinking today, for whatever reason, how the current crop of college undergrads and fresh young professionals have zero memory of 9/11. While perhaps a few are interested enough to dig into archive footage and contemporary accounts, most of them only have the information that's fed to them by their teachers. It's the most pivotal evidence we have that Islam is not compatible with American values, but, most of the youngest of voters simply have no first hand experience on such evidence or don't care.
