If they’re largely useless, why ask for their help with the strait?

It's happening now, especially to the UK.
Trump has, and continues to, turn the established world order upside down.
These folks do a good job of breaking it down(if you're interested).

The British demonstrated their ineffectiveness in deploying a single destroyer.

That’s some help.

The USS George HW Bush strike force is on the way. Much more firepower than NATO could deploy. The French DeGaulle carrier strike force is a mere shadow of a Nimitz strike force.

They weren't asking for the US to intervene on this. We decided on our own....or has that bit been lost on you?

We decided on our own because it needed to be done. We should have consulted with a bunch of limp dicked assholes who are complicit in their own countries being overrun"

Europe couldn’t intervene on any matter militarily, that is the point that Trump is exposing. However, he wants them to at least show “good faith” and attempt something. You think like a European so I wouldn’t expect you to admit what Europe has become since WW2

I get the feeling that everyone in Congress cannot wait for Trump to be gone so they can continue their grift

I am not sure if Trump has the authority to stop sending payments of any kind to these countries but I wish he did and I certainly wish he had the authority to remove himself from NATO and the UN

These countries are nothing more than petulant children

You want them to join Trump in his hubristic acts of folly? He hasn't even sold Congress on this endeavor which is why you won't see them even taking a vote on a resolution to back this even after the fact...and his side controls Congress.
Allies are probably thinking that if he wanted to start this on his own, then he's on his own on all of this. He wants to play GeoArchis then have fun wearing the heavy crown.

Somehow they think Jacinda Ardern is still PM. She hasn't been for some time.

Didn’t he ask them for help yesterday?

In their mind and reality they saw no need to start this. We and the Israelis started this. Europe was getting its oil and the Iranians were not molesting the shipments.

You are right. We do not need anyone to help us open the Strait of Hormuz. But what a play that was to ask the question "Will you help us"?

Now, get us the frig' out of NATO and the UN.

We’re not doing such a good job of it right now.

It doesn’t come off this way. It comes across more like asking for help to clean up a mess that we’ve made.

lol

Anyway, I’m not sure we can “open” it at all, in the sense of ensuring safe travel through it.
Doesn’t the situation right now say that we underestimated Irans ability to close if/our ability to defend it?

Nothing more needs to be explained. The info has already been provided by others.
