It just got increased
Yes, and?
It's projected to be lower than what the tax will be in SG plus you don't know what tax breaks are being given away by BR that aren't guaranteed with SG.

Link to these "projections"????

I got some units I am remodeling.
I am boycotting stores in baton rouge and giving business to ascension parish.
Not much but if people join me we can hurt city parish in the pocket book if we stick together. Even a routine wal mart trip outside Baton Rouge helps hit them in the pocket book.
I cancelled
$25k building materials cancelled order and my account with br lumber supplier on this job.
Millwork & windows, door, trim, locks, knobs, pulls package cancelled $9,000 order.
I opened an account and ordered the materials and doing a will call from a lumber dealer in ascension parish. Now taxes are given to ascension not Baton Rouge.
Appliance package was using sears over Stratton and appliance distributors. I will cancel some appliances on order from sears at mall of Louisiana. I will cancel my accounts and use ascension parish building material dealers and home centers in ascension parish along with doing will call over delivery.
It is not much but if other people start cutting down on purchases in Baton Rouge we hit them in lower taxes.

And what happened to your "trump card" which you claimed SG held?
I said "may", Mr.Mensa.
And we will never know, because they elected to not make that move (turning in the petitions early). I'm not sure how you're this clueless.

I don't see that Sears, Penny's, Dillard's or Macys petitioned to be annexed.

You ever hear of the saying that the devil you know is better than the one you don't?
You think that has any applicability here?

You want a link to common sense? Do you truly believe taxes in St George won't be higher - particularly if there's a new ISD?
The only unpredictable portion to all this is if they get a true break away school district, they will likely try to include money generators in the city limits. the school district and city will be the same in name only so the mall could very well still get forced into paying those taxes either way.

You sound like a kid throwing a tantrum. "I 'm taking my toys and I'm going home! Hmph!"

And you believe BR taxes have leveled off?

Do you have any reason to believe they are going to increase? Especially now that there will probably be additional revenue from these annexations.

You're right, you don't have anything intelligent to tell me....
I do.
You hate freedom. I mean you like it for yourself, but you do not like the idea of others self determining their own future. You want to keep them in their place and keep taking their money.

Others determining their own future like private business owners?
Also, why do SG people think they are entitled to the Mall of Louisiana? It makes zero sense.

Yes, city leaders just raised taxes by carving out a special taxing district for CATS. It proves the city can be creative and I saw that as a dangerous precedent. I'd be worried if ibhad property in the city.
Second, the annexations bring in some new revenues, but they are dedicated to certain entities. None to the schools which are hurting for money.
I schools start crying for more funding after the latest scandals die down.

The same reason BR does now, taxes go to where the business is done.
