This is kind of sensationalism. These are almost the exact borders of the Tenderloin--one of the poorest, worst neighborhoods in the country. They just moved the boundary one block from Geary to Grant so that Union Square would be included. It would be like using observations from the 7th Ward or New Orleans East to make judgments about the entire city.

I'm all for shitting on San Fran and their hobo problem. But their problems are more or less contained in small areas that everyone understands are shitty.
SF is still a nice city. Nicer than anywhere in Louisiana.

Sad to see that happen to such a great city.

When and why did American cities decide this was basically okay?
It's not really something you saw say 10 years ago. Certainly not on the scale you see now in so many places, including where I live.

bullshite!!
been there many times and stayed in nice hotels downtown.
at night it turns into 'night of the living dead' and you're crazy if you try to walk around.
by contrast i've also been to NYC dozens of times and always enjoy going out at night.
the homeless are out of control..they blanket the streets at night and nobody is walking around with a woman after dark unless they're a fool.

Oh, well that changes everything.
My sister lives there and I always enjoy visiting. Yes, they have a hobo problem. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but it's still a nice city. Again, it's much nicer than anything in Louisiana so I'm sure the criticism is mostly coming from people who haven't spent time there.

So SF now looks like the average Louisiana town?

do me a favor. next time you're there have your sister drop you and your wife/SO off in the heart of downtown at night..i'm talking near city hall & the moscone..where everyone goes who attends conferences.
i dare you to walk around for even an hour.
then get back with me.
i have walked EVERYWHERE in NYC at night from the bowery to alphabet city to chelsea...never once felt ill at ease. NYC >>>>>>>>>>>>>> SF for actually enjoying the town at night.

I live in Louisiana, I am used to corporations polluting the environment.
Dumbass.

Take your lies elsewhere.

God I wish people would start moving away taking their tax base with them. Lets see then if they would still want to be a sanctuary state. Fricktards

I do that all the time. you have to keep your wits about you, but if you stay to yourself, you should not have any problems.

that is really any large city at that hour. Look, I know you all hate the place. i am just saying- I am actually someone who does this. I am not concerned any more than if I were in birmingham or LA. it's common sense. SF has great weather that never hits freezing. for homeless, that's the jackpot.
Posted on 2/20/18 at 12:08 pm to Fab4Freddy
It's odd the ''liberal'' rag Readers Digest ranked S.F. as the cleanest large American city when air, water, toxic waste and sanitation are factored in. They also have the highest bond ratings, so much for poor liberal management as well.

Yeah - was thinking this is some bullshite. That area is a drug infested crime ridden shithole and always has been. The rest of San Fran sans the Haight is pretty nice if you can afford it.
