I would say that I don't get the point of whining and protesting a President, but I'll be damned if Donald didn't parlay it into becoming president himself.

The problem with what you've laid out is that it's all "feelings." I'm an independent, and the constant whining about feelings and disregarding of fact is what constantly drives me away. Just because you're scared of something happening doesn't mean it will. Instead of protesting the chance that something could happen, wait until there are actual pieces of legislation that threaten the safety or economic freedoms of people. If you do this you'll find many people, myself included, inclined to support those individuals' freedoms. The incessant talk about how Trump is "literally Hitler" is some of the most asinine garbage I've ever heard. He's a human being of color (orange) and I believe he has the country's best interest at heart. I had similar hopes for Obama, but he failed miserably on every front.
I would recommend going on with your life but holding politicians accountable for their policies, you know the idea on which a representative democracy is built.
