We deserve better more principled conservatives in the Republican party.

I don't know any informed conservative with an IQ over 95 that supports the map they are about to pass.

Republicans are giving Democrats a layup with a gerrymandered district that snakes from NOLA to BR.

They could easily make a map that is less gerrymandered and at least gives us a shot at 6-0. 5 safe districts and 1 district that is close. Even the BR metro would be red if it includes Livingston Parish and other rural parts.

How do we demand and receive representation that is less feckless?

sorry, but I doubt you are going to get anyone with principles to run for elected office. The political system at every level is corrupt and to function successfully in it, one must also be corrupt. Thats why we are where we are today.

Not saying I agree with this, but it appears they believe that it would be very difficult to create a 6-0 map, without making several of those districts questionable. They seem to believe that 5 safe Republican and 1 safe Democrat is better than 3 safe Republican and 3 purple districts.

I agree, but I'm in my early 50s, retired, and have a lot of money. I don't need to get rich through politics. I don't think I'd be the best candidate, but I would be where it counts (votes and writing laws). However, I don't know if I want to subject myself to it. If I did it would solely be to serve. I would expect to piss off a lot of people.

This was the map we had in 2022 after the last census. The new map basically goes back to this map before the federal judge stepped in and forced the 2nd black district. I don't particularly like it, but I think they were trying to get something passed quickly so we can use it this voting cycle and fight for a better map with the next census.
