1. Get the emails from the WH
I am sure the White House will get right on that......might have them available in 2017.

Seems like this would require an astonishing amount of either incompetence or corruption.

I work at a state agency where a crash happened and the former was at play. We had to work a month to completely reconstruct everything that had been lost on that day's work where the server went kerblooey.

This one is clearly the latter since it is THREE YEARS of stuff.

shite, subpoena the entire database from them and find out how many OTHER IRS employees no longer have any of their e-mails going outside of the organization.

If Lerner's the only one missing those e-mails, the tech guys and IRS management should all be held in criminal contempt.

I can confirm your belief.

I've been on the inside on email requests on the state level and I can tell you for a fact that the moment word goes out that there MAY be a request, someone is tasked with backing up the user(s)' email.

Before you even get to that point though there is this whole concept of DR, Disaster Recovery. Any agency worth a tin shite (and many not) will have some sort of DR system in place (usually in the event of natural disasters). This data is not only replicated between sites but it is also archived at various periods.

I guaran-damn-tee the IRS has a DR plan and her emails are archived somewhere. But don't take my word for it, take theirs.

If they think that the tech guys are going to take the fall for this, I think they're sadly mistaken.

Most competent ones in this situation would get a CYA letter from their bosses to delete this stuff AND keep a copy of whatever they deleted in case they get hung out to dry.

It just all seems a little too convenient. I mean, it's the IRS... this isn't some small-time company or something.

Then they ask for e-mails and they say sure we'll get right on that. Then the IRS comes back and says "whoopsie daisy... wouldn't you know it, we lost those e-mails. Oh well, we would have loved to help, but what can you do??? Alrighty, let's shut this investigation down. Nothing to see here."

Bush's fault-told them the equipment didn't need to be replaced

Tea Party- Government shutdown would have prevented 3 years of data from being lost

I am no computer expert, but I have been told it is damn near impossible to delete an email, as long as it went through a server. (whatever the hell that means)

I work with exchange everyday, and I can promise you I can find any email if you give me the time to do it. When you delete an email, it doesn't delete it off the server, it just deletes it from your inbox. Sounds like the IRS instructed their IT department to delete all emails between 2009 and 2011.

Like someone mentioned earlier, they should subpoena all emails from the other side now. Subpoena all emails from anyone within the WH to any IRS.GOV email.

The bold face lies and deceit from our government agencies has become totally unacceptable. From the IRS losing emails to the EPA using false emails, not to mention the expensive boon-doggles from (i forget the other agency) on tax payer dollars. Our government is OOC.

That's the funny thing though... it only did that for all correspondence OUTSIDE the agency. Not internal e-mails.

And, as far as I know, Lerner is the only person whose external e-mails are affected by this.

Bring the tech guys in and grill them.

If they lost all the external e-mails for 3 years by accident, they're incompetent and shouldn't be working in that kind of job.

If only Lerner's e-mails are missing, get the name of the person who gave the delete order.

I don't think anything short of a full armed citizen revolt will stop the thugs in this administration from lying, cheating, stealing, defaming and using any other tactics needed to remain in power.
