Last month, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a blow to President Donald Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship. Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, is still looking to take action, and he’s using a late Democrat Senate icon to do it.

This past week Moreno introduced a bill to eliminate birthright citizenship, citing longtime Nevada Sen. Harry Reid, who introduced a similar bill in 1993.

On Wednesday, Moreno introduced the Harry Reid Immigration Stabilization Act, which he previewed immediately following last month’s decision in Trump v. Barbara.

Genius move with that title. We should also name similar bills after Chuck Schumer and many Democrats who have done a 180 switch on their prior positions. Hypocrites.

The left has long since moved on from 90’s democrats.

Frankly, it’s silly to even reintroduce it.

Was there an influx of Republican immigrants in the '90s?

I like the strategy of continually exposing Democratic Socialist hypocrisy but in this instance the Dims will simply say their views on mass immigration have evolved//progressed and no person is illegal if they can get inside the borders of the US.

What these members of Congress should be doing is getting some legislation passed that severely penalizes companies for employing illegal immigrants, in the meantime maybe Trump could drop an EO severely penalizing companies for employing illegal immigrants.

a similar bill in 1993.

In 1993, weren't Robert Byrd and Jessie Helms still dreaming of pushing James Crow laws through?

don't understand why this obvious truth is getting so many dvs

naming a bill after a dead white guy is hardly a winning move

the bill failed to become law when Reid introduced it three decades ago, introducing it now is just meaningless theatrics

that would imply they actually cared about addressing the issue with a possible solution

why the hell do you think they want that

2020s Republicans are 1990s Democrats.

I disagree. It will show how hypocritical they are, especially since you remind them that the origin of the bill was proposed by a Democrat.

They don't!

I would bet +60% of the Congress would absolutely vote yes to pass mass amnesty legislation if they thought they could politically survive the fallout that would certainly come from their constituencies.

oh yeah, damn, you busted me

cant imagine why any respectable Democrat wouldn’t support controversial legislation that goes against their party’s public playform once they find out its named after a the guy who unsuccessfully sponsored it 3 decades ago back when they still were opposed to same sex marriage and in favor of closer relations with Russia
