The GOPe trial balloon to pump DeSantis v. Trump for ‘24 failed so they are pulling back.

But at least one GOP operative — John Thomas, founder and president of the political advertising and strategy group Thomas Partners Strategies — thinks it’s better for DeSantis to wait than to try to challenge Trump in 2024.

“I wouldn’t advise him to go head to head with Trump,” Thomas told Insider. “It’s not gonna go well for DeSantis.”

Until recently, Thomas was independently readying a political action committee to support DeSantis running for president.

But now he predicts DeSantis would be unsuccessful if he tried to challenge Trump. If DeSantis were to run, he said, he wouldn’t have to just compete with Trump’s name recognition and donor network. DeSantis would also risk seeing what would happen if Trump’s followers suddenly viewed him as anti-Trump.

Right now, DeSantis is seen as not just pro-Trump but as being Trump 2.0, Thomas said. To run against Trump, he said, DeSantis would have to convince Trump’s core electorate to break away from him.

“Right now he can have his cake and eat it too,” he said. “He can be Trumpy and supportive. But he would have to argue that he’s better, or Trump is bad. And that is a fault line that is probably a bridge too far for the Republican electorate in 2024.”

I wonder what their (establishment Republicans) next move is because you know McConnell, Paul Ryan and crew are not giving up?

Trump is the America First dirty bomb…it’s critical that we America First patriots deploy the dirty bomb directly into Washington DC.

They don’t want to ruin Desantis in a head to head battle with Trump for ‘24. So this presumes they save him for a future run, and concedes that no one in Red can beat Trump in ‘24.

So does the GOPe throw in the towel and work against Trump or reluctantly support him?

Should be Ron. Trump has proven he can’t choose a cabinet that can take on the swamp. It’ll be horrible choice after horrible choice that will pull him into the muck on each and every issue.

Never made any political sense, Desantis supports Trump and inherits enough votes that will have won three times in a row. It’s only those worried that fighting back is somehow abrasive. Whatever their beef, Trump is less abrasive than bloodshed

Outside of pissing off a lot of pussies, Trump presided as an establishment Republican and those that backed his candidacies reflect this.

Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to have BDR on the ready. You know the dirty left will probably have OMB arrested at a debate or something.

It would be a virtuous act in the eyes of these Marxists to put a bullet in Trump’s cranium.

I’ve said in these threads for a while that something big is going to happen. A political assassination, a bombing, something big. Could come from the Right or the Left, but odds are it comes from the Left.

You cannot gaslight a country like the Left has done relentlessly the last 3 years and not have something pop off.

Trump picked Sessions. Trump picked Wray. Trump picked defense cabinet that kept us in Afghanistan. Trump had Kushner run his second campaign.

You really need to figure out the exact true cause of your animosity toward Trump. It ain’t what I quoted hereinabove. That’s an excuse for something else, just like it is for a good many people along with you. From my observation, most of you don’t seem to know precisely why the ill feelings toward him. The above, along with “toxic” and “combative” and the whatever the rest of the list with those same old recycled catchphrases

Bottom line, it’s obvious that you (and basically all the others unanimously, don’t know nearly enough of the extreme array of factors and causes and circumstances that went into both the initial selections/nominations as well as the same with the situations surrounding any such unproductive appointments. Because the ones y’all would consider “failures” were absolutely not predictable as such at first and during selection process…..any such instances only became clear well into the actual term of appointment.

Got damn it my arse is a little chapped over having to compose a disturbingly long post, when it shouldn’t be necessary at all. Agajn, it ain’t merely “appointments” that caused y’all to completely turn away from Trump altogether. Figure it out. IMO for many in this group, deep down they are incensed, unsettled and disturbed about his alpha predisposition while many amongst us fall too short in that area. Not saying that’s you, but it definitely is some or many of your cohorts.

IfTrump really cared about this country he would endorse DeSantis.

He won't....He cares more about himself

If you’re able to summarize that uber complicated and nuanced topic/subject in such simple terms, you’ve fallen well, well short of considering all the relevant circumstances required to produce an actual properly informed conclusion.

Trump won CPAC and he was raided. I wonder if DeSantis won if the raid would have happened?

I still say they may send DeSantis to a debate with idiot Newsom. Having an early debate would benefit the establishments-getting both on the national scene-scripted. They are making it clear they are choosing-the nominee as they have for 50 years.

And if someone doesn't like it Trump & MAGA go to jail or worse.

My animosity is the unforced errors in cabinet selection. The absolute stupidity on Jan 6th…how could he not see the swamp was going to cause drama? The pointless Twitter bombing swinging the stock market. The pointless Twitter outrages.

Clap for him at his rallies with the ranting and raving all you want. He’s proven he will fail at taming the swamp.

Ill go with the guy with more class and self control. I’m tired of the carnival act.

Are you one of those who claim they already personally knew which appointments were destined to fail coupled with the knowledge of who that particular pick/position should be, at the exact time it was all going down? I prefer to assume the best about folks I’m just meeting, so I will assume you aren’t one of those described above. That claim is impossible.

So if you aren’t one of those above, then you’re still in some hot water because you used nothing but 20/20 hindsight thing. Which is a literal faux pas in our society. It’s unfair and disingenuous.

If it was one selection I’m in your boat. But Sessions, Mattie, Wray, etc all thwarted his agenda.

Look, I’ll vote for Trump over any D all day every day. I’d just prefer someone with the self control to execute a conservative agenda.

If owning someone on Twitter or giving good rally speeches where all there was to being President Trump would be the guy. The job requires more than ideas and Tweets. It requires execution and willingness to see your vision through.

I just saw an article drooling over Youngkin because he just now deleted CRT in VA.

Pence is warming up in the batting cages.

I think they will put Ron on the back burner until they jail or JFK Trump.

They were too obvious in their sleaze-they are used to no one noticing their tricks.
