Right now speech is not free. It's being manipulated by extremely powerful media companies, big tech, well funded foreign entities and I'll throw in Hollywood. Thanks to the internet people are being told what to think rather than thinking for themselves. It's a form of brainwashing.

If the Founding Fathers could see how the 1st Amendment has been perverted I wonder how the language would look?

The average citizen doesn't have Free Speech because they don't have the same ability to express it in the same way that the entities that I mentioned above do. People might as well be in the woods alone yelling out what they feel because it will be about as effective.

To have "Free Speech" you have to have money....A lot of it.

I don't know what the solution is but if things are allowed to continue as it, people that truly want to worship in their own way, or truly have a grief against their Government will be the ones ending up in re-education camps.

The first amendment:

Hey retards, stop supporting these companies that actively hate you. This isn’t a federal government problem.

Stop logging into Facebook and Twitter.

Switch your email to ProtonMail.

Stop watching the NFL and NBA.

Stop shopping at big box stores. Shop local and invest in your communities l.

Volunteer for local political campaigns you stand behind.

Get involved in local community outreach programs.

STOP frickING DEPENDING ON AND ASKING FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO SOLVE ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS.

This country was literally founded as a frick you to central governments.

It’s absolutely unique in that way.

And all we’ve done is slowly allow the feds to claim more and more power.

I’m as big of a trump supporter as the next guy but if you’re unhappy with the state of your city then either actively work to change it or move

The best explanation of the First Amendment I've heard is that it was written to protect speech that most or many would find disagreeable. Speech everyone agrees with needs no protection.

Wait, you’re saying we shouldn’t nationalize social media and give the next Democrat regime the keys to our own destruction?

The first amendment was written to protect you from criminal prosecution by the government for speech.

Wanting the government to regulate twitter because they hurt your feefees has nothing to do with free speech.

We as a society willingly support and accept and promote these companies and give them power. Stop it.

I do no such thing. I avoid the Starbucks, Twitter's and Facebook's of the world because they support this new fascism.

My money speaks for me, but it is getting harder and harder to find businesses that haven't bent over for BLM/ANTIFA.

George Orwell was a prophet. He just got the date wrong.

2 things regarding the 1A:

1) You have the Right to say whatever you want to.

You do NOT have the Right to Force your speech on others. STAY OUT OF THE FREAKING ROAD! That's what the street blockage is about. Street blockages are an aggressive act to impose and infringe upon others rights. A case needs to get to SCOTUS to end it.

2) No one has a Right to NOT be Offended, and no one has a Right to be Heard (outside courtroom anyway). Being offended does NOT confer a Right to Physically attack another person.

Being ignored is everyone's Right. Anybody can say what they want, and everyone else is free to absolutely ignore them. Sure there are safety limits like Fire! but even if someone yells Fire! we can ignore them. (turns out yelling Help! is less effective because people ignore it as another example)

Lack of money doesn't prevent you from speaking. It prevents you from being heard. You have no right to be heard.

Free speech in the first Amendment works fine. Back in the founding fathers days each political party owned their own newspaper.

You misunderstand the meaning of “free” speech. You are free to say almost anything except liable without the GOVERNMENT arresting you. You must pay the financial cost of distribution. And you must pay the social cost of its popularity.
