Apology accepted. I, in fact, gave several paths where I thought Trump could win. I admittedly didn't think he could pull it off until the last week before the election.

I always chuckle when I see people claiming Jesus would be a political liberal today. They totally misunderstand why Jesus came to earth to begin with.
If Jesus delayed His coming by 2000 years, he wouldn't be political just like he wasn't political back then. He came to usher in the Kingdom of God, not some political utopia run by men.
Jesus taught obedience to the law and faith him Himself. He didn't teach salvation by the state. He taught personal giving, not social programs run by the government. The focus of his ministry, though, was himself, not the well being of others; that was a secondary concern. He even said it was more important that he should be anointed with expensive oil in preparation for his death than to sell that oil and give it to the poor ("For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me." - Matt. 26:11)
Those who think Jesus would be a Democrat don't understand that His goal wasn't to bring social revolution and support the physical needs of people through government intervention; He taught salvation by faith in Himself and a spiritual kingdom that is far more important than the physical one we see every day.

Jesus would have had social programs. Really, based upon what? No evidence of such other than the charge to care for widows and orphans and that charge was given to His believers and not some government.
"Are you telling me Jesus Christ couldn't hit a curve ball!?"
You guys are crazy.

No. You are wrong to assume that vote will blindly go to Republicans in every election. The only people advancing that meme are the ones who want Republicans to lose elections by turning their backs on their base.

that week was a blur for me. i feel like you were still holding out to the end on that.
i drank a lot Nov. 8 so a lot of things leading up to that are a blur. i know you and Losh were the rational dissenters in the situation.... but not a lot since then is very clear.

David sought repetance. Trump has not.
Well, as I understood Trump, he thinks that what he DOES is more important in the real World...than what he SAYS. He don't believe in asking for forgiveness...but in earning it. Philosophically problematic, I know. But we didn't elect Trump to be our Spiritual Leader...we elected him to PROTECT our Churches and Pastors and Atheists alike. From enemies within and without.
Trump can sort his repentance (by traditional, dogmatic public profession) out with the Good Lord in the hereafter as far as I'm concerned. As long as he does the job we elected him to do (secure our God-given Liberty), he's got my support.

In you judging an entire group of people in the post where you are telling other people not to judge? I'm not going to hold your hand and walk you through common sense.

Seems Mr. Piper's doctrine is faulty.
Romans: Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.

He would tax you into oblivion. True it would be for programs with strings attached. Only for his believers. I think he'd NOT be for Roe v. Wade.

If you are a Christian who doesn't see how Trump is generally morally in direct opposition to traditional Christian values then it is because you were never a very good Christian in the first place.

You might as well say "what if Jesus wasn't God but was a martian alien?" or some other silly thing.
What we know of Jesus was that He did not come to earth to deal with the physical needs of people. His healing and feeding of the poor and needy were always done to show them that He was God; they were evidences that His claims were real. The purpose was not to improve the physical lives of individuals but to show them their spiritual need for salvation through His death.
Democrats especially seem so focused on the here and now, not caring about life after death. Jesus' mission was on life after death.

Wrong. I want the Republican party to stop pandering to the religious right and move forward.

A likely excuse for you to treat people who have less than you like shite while you are on Earth. What incredible mental gymnastics.
