The electoral college & Trump

How much wailing and gnashing of the teeth will there be from the left about the EC when Trump puts the beat down on Sleepy Joe? I say it will be overwhelming, constant for months, twice as much as ‘16.

People will get hung up on it, but I'm pretty sure Trump or any presidential candidate would have a completely different campaign strategy if popular vote actually mattered

Oh it will be glorious. They already hold us red-state-rubes in such contempt. Let Biden with the popular vote and get slaughtered in the EC like Hillary.....they'll be beside themselves.

Requires a constitutional amendment passed by 2/3rds of both houses of Congress and ratified by 3/4ths of the states

If Trump wins the EC but loses the popular vote again, then you will see the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact passed.

There has not been a Republican President since Daddy Bush who was elected by the popular vote....Jr. did so but he was re-elected when he did it, when he was elected he did not. Trump did not. It will not happen again this year and it probably will never happen again because democrats out number republicans....they just do so in the same area. The GOP and the right is doomed to the ash heap of history as man kind has been marching toward progress since our earliest ancestors stood on their hind legs and said "damn, the view is great from up here....my back hurts....".
That march does not move without hiccups but it is going to happen.
The only thing keeping the GOP remotely relevant is the fact that we do not live in anything resembling a nation with any sort of democratic systems in place....there is no reason for there to be 2 Dakotas, 2 Carolina's and 2 Virginias....but instead of there being 6 senators from those states there are 12....meanwhile the citizens of Washington DC and Puerto Rico have ZERO.
The fact that vote for a US senator in Wyoming counts the same as about 50 votes in California also enables old, gripy white folks to stay in power....but its changing...we have lost and we just don't know it....

The irony of all this is that currently the EC actually gives the advantage to Democrats due to Cali and NY. Cali is 20% of needed EC votes by itself. So that's 20% the Dems don't have to spend time or money on.
