That people still vote these people to power.

- pass a soda tax. 2 liter coke go up 43%.
- people on their way home are now buying cokes outside the tax area and taking them home
- Restaurants are now complaining that it's hurting them.

and now a STUDY is being paid for by your tax dollars to see the results.... cost.... 4$ million

People shouldn’t drink that shite it’s poison

But taxing it the way they did was not the solution.

We could see a Seattle Coke Party...but they’d be arrested for polluting the waterways.

Coke should change their name to Progressive Kool Aid. Dems will supply and pass around freely.

They are studying this little understood, fringe theory called "supply and demand." Null hypothesis is that taxes on an item do not, I repeat, DO NOT lower demand for that item.

Kook science if you ask me.

Do these taxes apply to diet cokes as well?

Also, why not ice cream shops or Starbucks on fat girl drinks?

I'm totally against the tax, both philosophically and economically.

But you serious? Soda is basically pure sugar.

The less people drink soda, the lower our healthcare costs would be. Just like taxing tobacco it's a good plan once you get over the mouthbreathers who refuse to give up Dr. Pepper.

The less people in America the lower our healthcare would be but the left still provides sanctuary to swarthy, unskilled illegals

And many on the right (presumably yourself) would love to see Roe v. Wade overturned which would increase our population, and thus healthcare costs, tenfold.

I could give them the "results" for much less and I'd bet my "study" from my arse on the sofa wouldn't be different in any significant way.

1. Reduced soda consumption than before but still less reduction than assumed when policy was sold.
2. FAR less tax revenue than assumed when tax was passed
3. Reduced total sales even when controlling for less soda in restaurants affected by the tax.
4. Thriving black market

Probable add on. Lost jobs within region affected by the tax.
