Actually, it's because their constituency doesn't want it. We have laws in place for paths to citizenship. If you don't meet the qualifications, for whatever reason, you have to leave and try again when you do meet them.
No member of Congress should be voting for anything that their constituents don't want to happen. Regardless of either party's grand-standing or virtue signaling.

Yes...we win. I wish your friend the best of luck in Mexico. He should move to the Cancun area and get a job in the tourism industry. Coach him up and make some suggestions. With his grasp of American culture and our language, he should do well interacting with real Americans and earn a decent living. Free place for you to stay also. He can do it. Encourage success for him.
