This x1000

Trump is one of the most unpopular political figures in America currently, maybe one of the most unpopular in American history. If this was a fight the Democrats thought they could win, they would cobble together a coalition with GOPe and the NeverTrumps and put a halfass bill on his desk - Christ knows Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell don't give a frick about the wall.

If 80% of Americans actually supported those measures, then a Trump veto would be political suicide. But there hasn't been any pressure from Congressional Dems, no bills being leaked to CNN and MSNBC, no circuits on the Sunday talk shows hammering away at Trump on immigration. I wonder why? NPR was talking about it today - first caller they had on goes "Their parents gambled, now the children are going to lose. They're going to be deported because they were sold a bill of goods by their parents and by the Obama administration - they have no one to blame but them." And this is NPR...imagine what center/right radio listeners think.

I’m not melting. I’m sick of hearing about this. Fix the situation or deport them. Build the wall or don’t. Deal with the consequences. Lead. Instead, it’s more nothing.

I’ve been clear on my position. I’m sympathetic to Dreamers. I’m against illegal immigration. Build the wall. Fine. Fix the problem. But, giving Dreamers a path to citizenship is the right thing to do.

But, if you won’t do it, deport them and stop fooling around. Drag them out of schools and colleges and away from their screaming kids. Go ahead. Let that be your policy. Then, run for re-election. I’m sick of both parties using the issue for their own perceived gain. Solve it or deport them.

I’m all for solving it.

But you seem to steadfastly oppose ending the visa lottery and chain migration.

Why?

So, you’re the pig?

I didn’t see any truth in your comment. Just false accusation.

I am who I am. I just don’t think we should deport Dreamers. I also think Trump is a liar. But, that doesn’t make me a Democrat.

I’ve been consistent for years on here.

I’m not against it. I don’t care. I’m telling you that Democrats and a bunch of Republicans have said they’ll never go for that. You have to have 60 votes in the Senate. You won’t get it.

I do care about Dreamers. I know a few. Great people. Great workers. They have nowhere to go. They have kids born here. So, I speak personally because I asked them what they were going through and then I read up on it.

So, it’s hard for me to think my friend should be deported when he is as American as any of us. But, there is no point in discussing this here.

Go ahead. Deport them all. If my friend gets killed by the drug cartel when he gets deported, who cares? You gotta break some eggs to make an omelet, amirite?

So now it's the Democrats' fault? You are contradicting yourself now.

Republicans are always supposed to eat the shite sandwich, huh?

I also notice you use the term "I don't care" a lot.

Then why are you commenting?

Democrats are in the minority in both chambers. What are you talking about? You really believe they can just pass a bill on their own?

Let’s start with the basics.

1. Do you believe countries should have borders?

2. Do you think a sovereign nation should be able to decide how people immigrate?

3. Why is someone who was brought here as a child and drained resources of taxpayers more worthy of citizenship than say a doctor who is in residency here and waiting in line as by the law?

4. Do you know about visas?

5. Do you know that because you have a visa doesn’t make you a citizen?

6. Do you understand that making over a million and a half people citizens will have some drastic changes on demographics and frankly will have a drastic impact on taxpayers burden due to new eligibility for entitlements?

And you still want to act like it’s not a huge concession and still want to act like the other two pillars are “non starters”?

You can’t be a conservative I’m sorry...

I say “I don’t care” after I’ve been beaten down by stubbornness. I cared when I started commenting. Now I don’t. It is pointless to discuss this here. So, believe what you want.

Actually no he isn’t. He isn’t an American that’s the whole point.

The Donald was gracious and by his grace wanted/wants to make him American but the democrats don’t want to.

Not when you say

he is as American as any of us

Because he isn't. He might want to be, you might want him to be. Hell some of us might want him to be. But he isn't and that has you emotional about the possibility of Pedro having to go back. He or his parents were sold a lie and Obama and Congress has failed him and his family.

None of this is Trump's fault. He is holding Congress accountable. Your friend should thank Trump for what he is doing.

You poor thing. You want national policy crafted to fit your personal desires.

You can always follow them to Mexico.

I understand the situation. I believe in borders and national sovereignty. I’m against illegal immigration and for strong borders. These people are already here. I don’t think they should be deported and think they should be given a chance to stay and become full Americans if they meet qualifications, work, contribute, pay taxes, etc.

I know what an actual conservative is and I know what I am. I’m not sure about you, though, and I’m not interested in you having to defend yourself.

I’m talking about in his experience, cultural knowledge, language, etc. I’d much rather have him here than someone else trying to come from another country who didn’t grow up here.

Of course I understand he is not a citizen.

Thanks for the update on what citizenship is.

So where is their negotiation? Where is “why not solely the kids on DACA for just border appropriations?” There has been none of that because they don’t care. They want unfettered immigration and also want a wedge issue and can trust the MSM not to call them out on it.
